Game Thread: (23/24) Lady Vols vs. (rv/rv) Georgia

This is on Kellie if she has to consistently beg her players to hustle. Pat never had to do that game after game.

Third quarter, Georgia was fired up and they played hard on every possession. Taylor had her team hustling hard even though they were down 15.
Tennesseee was acting like they already won. If Rennia comes back next year, I wonder if she will start tweeting about "respect" when Tennessee isn't in the preseason rankings? Poor thing hasn't realized in 4 years that respect is earned, not given.

Tennessee is a mediocre team with an unqualified coach. Georgia isn't that bad of a team, but they're not that good either.
Saying Kellie is unqualified is a bit harsh.Shes had one recruiting class!

No way. PAC12 is easily the best. SEC has SC and that's about it. Maybe them along with UK and TAMU are Sweet 16 teams. The rest of them are likely one-and-dones.

Of course there is the eye test, and at least IMO Oregon and Oregon St(especially) have disappointed so far. Washington State has been a big surprise, and still have UCLA and Arizona being solid. It's close, but I'd say the SEC is better.
Warren Nolan's website has the Pac 12 5th in both RPI and NET, with the SEC 1st and 2nd. 8 SEC teams are in the top 25 NET rankings, while the PAC 12 has 4 in the top 35. I wouldn't say easily the best conference. Pac 12 has IMO 4 probable Swt 16 teams, while the SEC has 3. Not a big difference.

I guess Vic Schaefer should be on the choping block for getting blown out by West Virginia...That's how it works right?
Vic's track record speaks for itself. Plus, he has exceeded expectations for a weak Texas roster this season, and is bringing in a top notch recruiting class next season.

Kellie isn't in his stratosphere as far as coaching accolades go.

I'll give you Oregon State, but Oregon is a top 12 team and only lost to the #1 Stanford, #7 UCLA and #12 Arizona. That's nothing to be ashamed of for a team that lost 4 starters from last season.

I say that the PAC12 is stronger because of how top heavy they are. Like you said, the SEC has more ranked teams and is deeper, but the PAC12 has multiple contenders and the SEC has 1-2 at best.

I just don't agree with you that the Pac 12 is easily the best conference. It's at least close. You did make some good points. But hey I like a good healthy debate.😉

Isn't Kellie's class top 8??

#8 because of quantity, not quality. None of her recruits are projected to be AAs, and none of them were in the top 40 Hoopgurlz rankings. That class would have been considered a disappointment during Pat or Holly's days.

Vic got 3 in the top 25 (2 in the top 10 that are likely AAs). And that was in 6 months as the new Texas HC...

vic is also a winning coach and players trust him. Kellie is just coming to light and getting onto big recruits. give her time.

Look, if signing #43 and #45 is something you wanna celebrate...then go right ahead. I prefer to hope that Tennessee gets back to the days when they were competing for the best players in the country.
#43 and #45 could come into college and dominate. honestly recruiting is crazy and some girls are overlooked or frankly play in really bad leagues where they don’t get the recognition they deserve. let the recruits play for tennessee before you start trashing them.

That's the #1 reason why I wasn't happy with the Kellie hire. They should have gotten a proven coach the way that Texas did. Kellie needs to give the top recruits a reason to come play for her, and she doesn't have a strong sales pitch...and there's no guarantee she ever will. At least someone like Vic can coast on reputation until he can't back it up with results anymore.

Not sure where to post this, as it doesn't need to be a new thread. Just curious about UT concussion protocol. It seems like our players are out longer than other programs. Massengale was out awhile years ago and I know others have as well. Now McCoy has been out about as long. Losing both Green and McCoy has hurt the team.

But Kellie is such a horrible coach, doesn't matter who she signs. So maybe you jumping ship and being a texas fan is best for everyone.

I'm not trashing them. I'm pointing out that they were mid-top 100 recruits that in all likelihood won't be making the AA teams. Maybe they could exceed their scouting report, but the more likely scenario is that they are depth/role players that won't be able to carry a team.
