Hate that you report accurately that JH is seriously injured. Appeared to be the case on the broadcast. Prayers up for a speedy recovery.Y'all, I was at the game and close enough to where Jordan lay on the floor after the injury that I could hear her sobs. I don't know how serious it actually is, but I am positive SHE thought it was serious. She couldn't even bear to show her face. The game and crowd was already a little off, but after Jordan went down it felt like an entire arena full of people were about to throw up. My heart sank when I heard her sounds and felt her anguish. Just ... awful.
If you are someone who prays or sends positive thoughts, please send some for Jordan for the next few days.
As for the game, it was hard to enjoy it after Jordan went out because I was too heartbroken for her, but one thing that stood out was that the male official was awful. He got Marta and Franklin for at least two phantom fouls each from all I could tell, and was generally unbelievably bad.
Glad we got the win but ... dang. Not a good day for so many reasons.
Don't see Tamarri playing 30 minutes per game for multiple reasons. Not sure she could even average that because of foul trouble. Also want to keep her fresh and effectiveness up. The previous 2 yrs she has only averaged 26 and 24 minutes. Also more depth this year. So I see her averaging 22 to 24 minutes. In certain games maybe a few more. Also in lopsided games less to keep her fresh. Want her fresh in March. She will have to settle on nine or ten players and a basic starting five that plays around 30 a game with the others filling in for three four minute rests for them. At least in these games against the top teams. Everybody can play when we get to some of the teams later on that are weaker. Indiana is going to be a handful and the way we are rebounding and passing the ball a really scary game for us. The UMass guy played eight players and the three subs probably got about five minutes each.
So….
1) I had forgotten how miserable it is to look at these game threads. The malcontents of the universe seem to swing by and relieve their personal frustrations.
2) The most important thing that happened tonight is a potential serious injury to Jordy. The rest of the stuff being discussed on here is minutia compared to that. I did not get to see the game. How serious did it look?
It was mentioned that Jordan got hurt, but not directly discussed. Same when he interviewed Rickea. It was obvious they were told not to discuss specifics yet, which is understandable. But very worrisome. Please, please let that poor girl be ok.
Exactly. She always does this early in the season and we always freak. Previously, the teams we played weren't as good and her players weren't all new so she got away with it more. I knew a couple of months ago when ya'll were drooling over all this platoon ball you wouldn't actually like it. She must let them get settled into some kind of rythmn. Rickea strikes me as a very rythmn dependent player and the extra mins tonight really helped her.
I'm somewhat surprised and disappointed that Strip has not even seen the floor...Given KH has larger squad than in past season, I think she is, in relative terms, dialing back a bit on the platooning. Wynn had a brief cameo, as did Justine (who I guess they are bringing back slowly from her concussion). With Jordan out, the back court got a little scrambled but Brooklyn Miles stepped up.
.Rickea Jackson 30:22; Tamari Key 20:04 Jordan Walker 24:36 Jasmine Powell 33:47; Jordan Horston 08:12 (I hate to see this); Jasmine Franklin 18:12 Tess Darby 18:18; and Brooklyn got 11. Everybody else was sub 10 minutes in terms of playing time
I think Kellie's main issue is figuring which combos work. I noticed there was a stretch in the 2nd quarter where there was not much offensive punch on the court and Kellie got RJ back in pretty fast.
I don't see any depth I just see a lot of players playing some really bad minutes. If you want continuity in a game of sustained performance you have to have a rotation and it has to be reasonably familiar with each others play. 99 percent of coaches play no more than ten players and it is usually eight that get the most minutes in a game. No one plays their starters less than 30 minutes that is expecting to win against any top team. You can search all the top teams in WCCB and when they play top teams they cut it down to 8 or 9 players. Even middle of the league teams top coaches do this. Everyone can play when you are playing an inferior opponent not when your playing an elite one. Every top team has a starter and a backup not players playing all over the place that is why the turnovers have been a consistent problem for all four seasons of this coaching staff reign. With the depth on this team, there is ZERO reason for anyone to average 30 minutes/game much less having all of your starters average that!
She might be the one exception but who is her backup? No one seems to take her role when she goes to the bench. We become very layup vulnerable when she is out.Don't see Tamarri playing 30 minutes per game for multiple reasons.
Wishing Horston the best, and hope it’s not a serious injury. Hate to see anyone injured, especially since she was injured last season, and has worked hard to play this season.
The team stepped up tonight, it was a good chance to see most of our players, and Franklin and others played really well. They’re all playing to win.
Rickea stepped up and looked like the player we thought she would be, so Congrats to her for her first Tennessee double double, 24 points and 11 rebounds.
We’re just beginning, and I believe as the team plays more together, we will see improvement
each game.

Another big game coming up, against Indiana, on Monday.
GO LADY VOLS!!!
When a player who is a main contributor like Jordan gets hurt, there is a good chance that players will affected emotionally and play poorly. This team didn't give up and played through the adversity. You nailed it about needing more playing time together. Rickea hasn't played in a long time. We have a new PG. New people coming off the bench. It will take time. The question becomes who will play in Jordans place if she is unable to go. Tess? Marta? Who???
She's like 4th in the post rotation. They couldn't even find 10 min for Puckett or Hollingshead. I don't see Striplin getting much PT other than in huge blowouts. Even then, the early season ones will probably to to higher on the rotation to help them get chemistry.I'm somewhat surprised and disappointed that Strip has not even seen the floor...
