And those recruits say and lost by 70 😂 no thanks

against us, but against their own level of competition they often rule.
Often we see these teams from TN we beat by 50,,,in the NCAA's bc they won their own conference.
They benefit.
Kids will play on a team just to be seen by a potential other team...happens on every level

Yes she did. I was there to witness that debacle.

To put that loss in context, that was a good UTC team (29-4 and an NCAA bid); the LVs had lost 5 starters and then recovered from this loss to win the SEC regular season title and make it to the NCAA elite 8 (finishing the season 27-8). Warlick was chosen Spalding Maggie Dixon National Rookie Coach of the Year and SEC Coach of the Year.

ETSU and Chattanooga would not rule the Y rec league these days. Sad but true.

I can remember back with the LVs always played a brutal pre-conference and Uconn (who was then winning championships was beating the stuffings out lower caliber comp., winning by major double digit margins. Then, the common lament was that Uconn was so much smarter because these cupcake games let them work on their chemistry and execution whereas the LVs were getting beaten down by this relentless schedule.

The "truth" lies in the middle. You want some challenging games in the pre-season and some where the competitive gap is wide enough that the game can be used a higher intensity practice session. And yes, it was not too long ago that UTC was always a challenging game.
UTC lost Wes Moore as head coach. Good coaches are hard to find.

Remember, Coach Summitt was at every practice that year. Teaching and training the players. At that time she was still an amazing coach. She was not able to coach in games because she couldn't remember what went on in the first half to make halftime adjustments and stuff like that. However, the teaching that she had been doing for 30+ years was still in her brain. I'm sure the players learned a lot from her that year. And the upper classmen had learned from her in prior years.

Never mind.

How do you know this? Were you at those practices? Did you read Pat's mind? I'm pretty sure you don't know squat and are only interested in supporting Barf. Go ahead and give his hate another like! Thats what his fans do.

Wasn’t Pat a designated coach emeri (sp) and as such could attend practices but no game functions (sitting on the bench, etc.)? If so, maybe the poster is somewhat right.

I seem to remember that the Chattanooga coach was recruited and now leading a top five team. and of course the Ohio State coach who was not one of my favorite was dismissed and did his swan song of coaching by taking over Chattanooga.

also with 1000s of flights being cancelled how many players might not arrive back on the 26th.

People will say anything to avoid giving Holly any credit. Maria Cornelius wrote a book about CPS's last season as head coach and her illness was limiting her pretty severely even at that point. The coaching staff carried the load that season. As an emeritus, Pat, at least as reported, was more involved with player counseling and motivational matters but was not doing that much hands-on coaching.

On Holly, I think it is fair to say that the legacy of Pat carried over for several seasons through her last set of recruits like Taber Spani and Cierra Burdick and once those players moved on, the program started to show signs of more visible decline. But in her first four seasons, she had 3 elite 8 appearances, one sweet 16, one SEC tournament title, and 2 regular season conference titles. In effect, she kept the program steady state from where it had been under Pat's preceding four seasons, while coping with the pressure of replacing a legend. She proved not to be the long term answer but the animosity directed toward her in the first 3 years was absolutely over the top. Her last three years weren't so great but she deserves credit for what she did. Programs can fall completely off the map when they lose a legend coach. Holly kept the ship afloat and left a good recruiting legacy.

From the game notes:

Back by popular demand, Bob Kesling (play-by-play), Madison Blevins Hock (analyst) and Kasey Funderburg (reporter) will be on the call for the SECN+ broadcast.

The contest also can be heard on Lady Vol Network radio stations and by audio stream, with everyone’s favorite, Mickey Dearstone behind the microphone. Now calling the action for his 23rd season, Dearstone is joined by studio host Bobby Rader. Air time for games on the Lady Vol Radio Network generally occurs 30 minutes prior to tip-off.

From the game notes:

In-state foes No. 7/10 Tennessee (10-1) and Chattanooga (2-11) will face one another on Monday, meeting for the first time since 2015 and for the 36th occasion in the series.

The Lady Vols and Mocs are set to tip off at 6:32 p.m. in Thompson-Boling Arena in a contest that will mark the final contest before UT embarks on its SEC schedule.

The battle marks the fourth of five consecutive home games during the month of December for UT
and the second of two straight match-ups against schools within the Volunteer State and who also are members of the Southern Conference.

At 10-1, UT is off to its best start since opening 12-1 in 2018-19.

UTC, meanwhile, comes to Knoxville looking for win number three on the year. The Mocs ended a nine-game losing skid on Dec. 20 when they handled UNC Asheville, 62-51.

Monday's meeting features a reunion of former Chattanooga player and current head coach Katie
(Galloway) Burrows and former Mocs assistants and current Tennessee staffers in head coach Kellie
Harper and assistant Jon Harper.

Also from the UT Sports game notes:
Includes this note about the last game vs. ETSU:

"BENCH BOOM: Tennessee's bench tallied a whopping 74 of UT's 112 points vs. ETSU. That's at least the best of the post-Pat Summitt era, with research continuing prior to the 2007-08 season."

Prepare for a sluggish looking crew. When Kellie says “we’re gonna get up and down more than usual” we are in for some ugly basketball. Especially right after the break with no true practice until day of.

She did this several times last season and posters questioned where I got the idea she was making them run the day of the games. She says so herself. Anytime a Coach, especially at this level, says “we’re gonna get up and down more than usual” that means you’re going to run your a** off. If you ever played basketball you know this. Anytime your coach mentions “getting up and down” with a smile everyone has a collective groan. You’re running, a lot.

She does this I believe for a few reasons.

1) makes them go full speed before the game after sitting for a few days. Helps prevent injury and gets them warm

2) simulates tournament play and prepares them for multiple games in multiple days

3) generally prevents us from totally demoralizing an outmatched team. Kellie does not like to embarrass or run up the score on bad teams. She’s said so herself.

As a fan, I will say, I hate this strategy. The team looks so obviously gassed and mentally fatigued when they do this it makes the game no fun to watch. We will see…but there is my two cents. Won’t be shocked to see a sluggish, sore looking bunch tomorrow evening.

So instead of 144-22 the score might be 122-31 dang how disappointing 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hopefully there will be a game until they line up and start it anything can still happen. Memphis cancelled against the men's team when they were already warming up on the court. Texas done the same thing to the Lady Vols, but hopefully we can get this one in.
