Game Thread: (7/7) Lady Vols 59 - (RV/RV ) Florida 84

It’s called messing with a starting lineup that wasn’t broke. We did fine with our starting 5 pre Rae…. I think it has something to do with that.

She only went back into the starting lineup when Tess was out. Then it would have been odd to go back. I think Tess plays harder defensively which is ironic after I gave her so much hell in the first half of the season for her defense 😬😬

Okay....20 might be a stretch...but the trend from Auburn to Arky to this...? I don't know what happened...but something has messed up this team.
Honestly I think it's just a rough stretch that most teams go through. As far as turnovers that's who this team just is. Have been all year but when they run into athletic teams that have good guards that can shoot it becomes glaring. Arkansas and Florida have really really good guards and are able to score.

I just can’t buy into the idea that losing a backup center is the complete explanation for this team’s regression.

Exactly. To me, if it would make more sense to get even more motivated, just like TN got motivated in the 2008 championship when Vikki Baugh went down with a knee injury. That type of motivation is what we’re missing. I don’t understand why our team is surprised other teams are playing like they are. We have to come out and be ready every single game. We can’t keep coming back in the second half’s, because at some point, Auburn and Stanford, it will come back to bite us.

I’m starting to think it is less about losing Green and more about regaining Burrell. We have to hope we work her in better the next few weeks or we are in trouble. Our schedule gets tougher, not easier. Thankfully a lot of them are home games but this kind of play won’t win at home either.

Could’ve cut the lead down more at the half if Walker would’ve passed the ball to ONE of the WIDE open shooters…

If it isn’t Dye, Horston, or Puckett there’s no need for anyone else attempting to go one on one in this game.

Burrell is in a slump.

Is that really the shot you wanted to end the half Coach Harper? Did you ever think to call a timeout and set up a play for Tess or Sarah with an open 3? I have to say that is Harpers opportunity. She is not good at in-game management.

I agree, but that is the only difference except for Rae coming back more. She is bad to turn over the ball, but did great the last game.

She was averaging 7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0 blocks per game. Absolutely zero reason we couldn’t absorb her loss especially with Rae’s return.
What we are missing though is her on-court leadership. There is no stat for that.

I’m sorry, but Burrell as a first round pick? Don’t think so.
I saw her laughing and joking around with Horston about a minute into the game. Meanwhile UF looked a lot more serious and simply started out-hustling UT. Worst thing is if we as fans can see these things why can't our coach 20' away see it and climb some butt? The #4 ranking went to their head and they'll find out the hard way there are a lot of teams capable of beating UT on any given night. TO's stand at 13-4 right now in UF's favor. This is an every game occurrence and simply due to slack play. Hopefully KJH get's to the bottom of it soon.

This is type of team we should beat by 20 if we're really top 10. The Auburn game...then the massive struggle w Arkansas at home which could've easily been a loss....now this.

That is a very good Arkansas team that was red hot entering that game. Losing to them wouldn’t have been a bad loss. They‘re a much better team than this FL team. Reminder: FL’s leading scorer transferred out of the program mid season!
