You obviously watched the game.
As some have said, we were tired. That doesn’t bode well for tournament time, but that’s beside the point. Maybe we let that tiredness rule our attitude. We didn’t get the calls from refs in Florida that we got from the refs at home, and we let ourselves become frustrated.
Horston was making faces, pointing at her arm, and arguing with the refs. On one play she just stood there, because she wanted a foul called, while play continued and they scored. She was benched more than once, but her play did not improve. For the game, she scored 5 points and had 6 turnovers. She wasn’t alone, we dribbled and passed as if we were not playing a team intent on stealing the ball. We were angry, our Defense disappeared.
Tiredness, frustration, entitlement attitude influenced our play. Mental toughness was there no longer.
I have no doubt Kellie is addressing this. Afterall, understanding why we played the way we did will help the Team recognize these situations in the future, and not give in to them. Mental toughness means fighting more than the other team, it means still playing to win even when you’re angry or frustrated. I believe we can get it back.
