Takeaways…..
Seeing Rae Burrell play and actually score, is a huge site and a wonder to see! She may not be playing at full level yet, but this is such a promising sign of what’s to come.
Tamari Key, while has a tendency to get emotionally involved with other players being physical with her, and allowing the refs calls to determine how she can play, she found an inner calmness to fight through the adversity, and found her presence on the defensive end, which allowed her to be offensively motivated.
Keyen Green Continued to do her work by coming in off the bench, and putting up points and getting rebounds!
Alexis Dye was our offensive threat when it seemed like we were all out of sorts. Her ability to be mobile in the post, allowed for Tamari to do her work in the end. Double double for DYE!
Jordan Horston, while she hasn’t played in a couple games, she did make the difference. She finally figured out how to score against the smaller defenders on the block.
Jordan Walker, she was the front runner late in this game by being aggressive, and taking what the defensive side gave her, and drove straight for the rim. She also hit clutch free throws to put the game out of reach, let alone for taking all those screens from Arkansas today.
Emily Saunders, while a bit surprised to see her come in, she was called on at a time Key was in foul trouble, but she came in and played solid defense and got a block and pulled down a board. We are going to need Saunders down the stretch. She is a big post to put up against a team like SC, who has both 6’5” and 6’7” post players.
Something this team still has got to control, is turnovers and shooting free throws better! We can’t emphasize how important these issues are still plaguing us.
Players of the game: Tamari Key, Alexus Dye, and Jordan Walker!
