Game Thread: (7) Lady Vols 86 - (RV) Arkansas 83

It did not cost them any "realistic" shot at all. They have every opportunity to win the rest of their games and win the SEC outright.

Which involves winning on the homecourt of the best team in the country.

Like I said, realistic chance...

You don't think Tenn can beat UConn? They aren't exactly lighting it up...

No he is to busy carrying Geno and Jeff's jocks to think TN has improved any under Kellie.

I can't predict the outcome but i also know Kellie had certain posters disappearing from game threads for weeks before they had something to talk about again.

If TN does win they'll set the stage by saying how hyped LV nation was over beating a team without this player or that one like taking down the number beside that team means any less.

So it's just as "realistic" as before the AUB loss...
Before the Auburn loss, they could have shared the SEC title if SC won out and Tenn only lost to SC. That was the most realistic scenario. Losing to Auburn means Tenn will need to beat SC just to have a chance at a shared title if SC also loses another game...an unlikely scenario.

No, he has said they have improved. Whether it is enough to beat a UConn team on their home court is something the jury is still out on. It helps that this UConn edition is depleted, but we are out Green and Marta, and Rae is not all the way back yet.

If you call having to beat the best team in the country on their home court vs. being able to lose that game and still tie for the championship "just as realistic." It is fair to say that is a much harder task and less realistic than the one we faced before.

It can be done, but it is a different order of magnitude on the realistic scale.

That first sentence lead my mind to all the wrong places…

No one on this board thought 18-1 was realistic back in October.

Our biggest dilemma with our play, is Tamari Key gets clogged in the paint, because our Coaching staff has not written plays for her to come shoot the free throw line shot. If they would start incorporating her shooting some mid range shots, it would make us a little less predictable and allow the paint to open up. Tamari usually gets started good early, but can’t sustain once the paint is clogged, which then puts all our perimeter players in panic, because we force things to happen. Jordan Horston is too good to settle for the outside shot, if it’s there fine, but if not, she is unmatched going inside. I hope Rae and Alexis make shots today, and Rae isn’t all over the place with her dribbling and foot work.
Key needs to develop a shot from just outside the key. When your offense only takes place in the paint, it is easy to come up with a plan to clog you under the rim. Boston can hurt you in the paint on out to the three point line. Staiti can also hurt you from the same distance. Right now Key is basically a one trick pony on offense. She needs to expand her offense. She also needs to keep the ball up high and the ladies need to feed her up high. She also needs to work on her hands be cause she gets a lot of balls knocked or taken away from her.

I am not too concerned about Rae she just had a bad game. I believe she will be okay going forward.
