Game Thread: (9) Lady Vols 84 - Georgia State 60

I'm so happy we are 9-0! This team quickly adjusted to losing its best player and has plugged along for wins ever since.

That said, except for today nothing has been easy nothing. And even this easy win against an overmatched opponent showed we still have a long way to go to become a team capable of making a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

We still allow too many open threes, and while that ultimately didn't matter against GS, next weekend against Stanford it could be a huge problem. They move the ball well and can hurt you from outside.

The timing is great for this game, though! Finals are over, and they have nearly a week to prepare for one opponent. Stanford is really, really good. I suspect the biggest problem may be those darn Hull sisters! They are tough and quick, can drive the lane or drain threes.

Just rewatched the Texas and VT games recently. Horston can win games and lose games. When she has started out slow, Jordan Walker has stepped up in more than one game this year to keep us in the game, and of course, Tamari is fantastic. When you see bad passes, behind the back dribbling which become turnovers, and missed layups from balls just tossed in the direction of the goal instead of finished, you’ll know she’s not focused or not calm enough or something. She’s proved at the end of games in close wins that she Can play great. Just hope she brings her A game this Saturday.

GO LADY VOLS!!!
Some really bad drives to the rim today. Square up and pop!

Only thing about the game was to many unforced turnovers which is nothing new. The inability to make a layup way to may misses. Even Kellie yelling stick the layups. Still about what was expected a lot of players in and out all game.

Yes, plus there were so many touch fouls called that disrupted the flow of the game. It was still great to see our bench out there so much.

Thought Jordan Horston was awful today. She just gave the ball away so many times. Careless errors. She has SO much talent and potential. TK was terrific. Solid minutes from Striplin.

I'll take getting to the line 29 time especially if were going to make 21 like we did today. Poor Tess got the best looks she's had all season just made a couple. This was her chance to make at least five or more.

With three blocked shots against Georgia State, junior Tamari Key tied Michelle Snow at sixth on UT's career blocks list with 194. She trails No. 5 Mercedes Russell by only one and No. 4 Ashley Robinson by six.
