From the Texas game notes, "The Longhorns defense is making taking charges an art form this season asTexas has now drawn 19 total charges through its first five games. Junior guard/forward Audrey Warren hasn’t hesitated to step in front of any opponent, drawing a squad-best 10 of those charges".

Dear God! Anyone know what the NCAA record for charging fouls in one game is?

Hope our guards, one in particular, are made aware of this stat.

Shane Battier (Duke) took 111 in a season

Look for a reemergence in the power four in Texas,,,,If I were to suggest something to one of my players it would be to for one of them to stand up and take a leadership role in practice today and challenge the girls to quit playing like little girls with their feelings hurt and start playing like grown young women who have a statement to make.

And if I couldn't get a player to do it,,,I would do it as their coach by telling them...
Girls;
"You can't make a statement in the time of diminishing presence, you have to make a statement while you are in power. Make a statement by showing you are the best, not, by showing you can impact the path of the team by not being the best version of yourself...That only shows a weak character!"

They have shot 118 free throws to our 67. Their five game average 23.6 per game. Out average 16.8 We need to reel in the fouls and let the game be decided some other way. No prediction from me but I do think the game will be similar to W Va. with a couple of key plays deciding the winner.

If Horston started with Walker at the point, would Horston be in the 4 spot?
Depends on if you are sitting Green or Walker. She would either be point guard or the four. The again she could be the two if either. Burrell or Davis played the four. Then she could also be the three if Davis played the four. I think Horston can play all four positions and if Green is a five Horston could be a five as well.

Horston at 6'1" is to the women's game what Magic Johnson 6'9" was to the men's game....he revolutionized the thinking of a taller playmaker

I will be extremely disappointed if Kellie does not double team Collier. Key will foul out early trying to block all her shots. Collier scores 35-40 points if no double team. She may score 25 with double team but the LVs still may have a very slim chance of winning the game.

Texas can't take a charge if we don't charge. You can drive in there against the man to man but you have to be patient against the zone with so many players in the paint and inside 10 feet.

Bottom line we gotta hit some shots. Opens things up so much. Horston had much better body control the other night. Hopefully it carries over. Suárez had several player control fouls as well. Most of hers seemed to be physical post moves though. I don’t think they’ll look quite so bad against the bigs of Texas compared to Furman.
