I hope you are right but they didn’t do it last year I doubt they all of sudden do it this year the opposing coaches made it a point for someone to stay on Tess no matter what the other players were doing

The thing I will say about Tess. Is she has a lightning quick release, even if u close out quick she can still get the shot off. Now we just need to hope she hits them in the big games, I’ve never had an issue with her, she has her limitations but we need her to hit those shots.

The thing with Tess is less thinking, quicker shot. It seems the rest of the team has begun to understand that.

My problem with Tess is her defense and her inability to create shots when covered. You leave her open and she is one of the best open shooters in America. She is neither fast or quick. However, she is 100% effort. She will give you all she has to give. Her defense is affected by the fact that she plays the game flat footed and not on the balls of her feet. An elite guard, even a good guard, will leave her in their dust.

Seems this is a skill she can master, or at least improve. Her time is short …

Sadly, I know you are joking. They need a lot of work to even be close to being among the big dogs, or even to being a lock for the NCAA tournament. However, today's performance was encouraging and showed some positives though LU is not close to being a good team.

She is only catch and shoot basketeer .If she is left wide open all night she can get on a streak but if she is run off 3 point line she has no alternative shot ....not athletic enough to create her own shot against SEC competition.She is a liability on defense . Glad she had a good game today because there are not many of those in her future.

Prediction of future is problematic but one can analyze history to help in that regard .Tess is a senior and that means she has now been in the program 3+ years. Now I ask you how many games has she had like she had today ? How many of those type games has she had against SEC teams ? If she has several games like she had today against SEC competition ,I will come back and apologize to you .So having said that just how many games do you predict that she will have the rest of the year like she had today against very inferior competition ?

And ,oh by the way I wouldn't recommend that you buy a lottery ticket because you would lose ......

It’s becoming a joke how certain posters on here are constantly bickering that players like Tess and Kaiya can’t compete against the SEC.

The negaVols are kind of going out sad.

Tess had 10 double figure games last season in conference play. I don’t think she’s a starter on this team and that’s nothing against her. There’s 7 or 8 players on this roster TK, Spear, Striplin, Rickea, Sara, Jillian, Powell, and Wynn that can play with anyone in the SEC.
If Darby is making her shot and in rhythm she is a good weapon for the team.
That’s without elite guards former 5-star McD All-American Talaysia Cooper, Destinee Wells, and 4-star early enrollee PG Kaniya Boyd (a straight dawg) who will all begin their 2024 campaign in January for next season with Coop getting set to officially start her LV career this summer as Wells and Boyd are rehabbing on Rocky Top!

You term negavol against "certain posters " is tiresome .I am not a negavol I have been a fan of Lady Vols probably longer than you have been alive .....I have been a fan of Lady Vols since 1978 when I met Pat Summitt for the 1st time.Some people on this board like to throw around the term "negavol " for anyone who criticize play of the team,coach,or individual players.I will continue to criticize the team,coach,players when they do not play well and when they deserve such critcism.Life is not rosy all the time and neither has been the play of the Lady Vols ,They have been mediocre for years now and that is in large part due to coaching and players who are not athletically on par with the Top 25 teams year after year must less being able to compete for SEC or NCAA championships.

Well I just watched the game and what stood out to me is how alert and quicker Key is! I believe she, Hollingshead, and Spear’s play will determine how far we really go! We need those 3 to really step their game up going into SEC play.

I’m also concerned about Puckett, she seems to have hit a skid after starting the year off well. I hope she finds her groove, her and Striplin seem to trade off when each plays well. When Sarah is on, Stip is off, when Strip is on, Sarah is off!

Also LOVED the press! Hope everyone has a great new year!

Starting sipping on champagne already so I intend to bring in the New Year with a bang .Hope the Lady vols can improve day by day in this New Year and actually be competitive for both the SEC and NCAA Championships....as you indicate the key to that success will be KEY,Jackson,Spear,Hollinshead,and meshing of the team together so they play as one ......bring in the NEW YEAR with a BANG !

Folks get out of your feelings. I said Jewel Spear aka Fear da Spear is elite. Has no business being used as a spot up shooter. I posted three videos showing Jewel dominating the ACC since her freshman year with the ball in her hands creating, facilitating, and shooting the rock.

There’s not a single guard in the SEC that can match Jewel ability as a scorer and ball handler. Not 1. Tennessee still doesn’t know how to use Jewel.
This is why she’s a two time team USA selection!
