Game Thread Lady Vols at LSU

Overall I was pretty pleased with our play. No melt downs, few unforced turnovers, etc. Defense was excellent except for some rebounding lapses. I think Holly and Co. should go ahead and admit that we are a better zone team.

Out hustled for five points now on last possessions. Those really hurt. 13 to 13 that quarter real weak finish by Lady Vols.

Last play LSU player comes fro 30 feet out and gets rebound on the floor taking away from Kortney and making lay up at buzzer !!!!!

Twice Kortney got the ball taken away from her for scores... the first time she got raked acrossed the arm the second time by Lewis I have no clue?

Another thing a previous poster stated was that Rennia gets fouled a lot and today I have seen 3-4 no calls on her getting in rebounding position, heading to the basket, etc. She is not demonstrative but she needs to draw the attention to the ref some how.

Other wise a pretty solid defensive effort. Besides Hayes there is a sharp drop off in defensive ability when it comes to those coming off the bench.

That's the thing these "Free Kourtney" posters should realize. yes Kourtney can hit the three, but she is a defensive liability. The play before that, she had the rebound taken out of her hands by LSU.

Jaime needs to find her mojo again. Where is the Jaime that played against Texas?

The trend has been for it to happen in the late 2nd quarter, usually when either 1) we have several bench players in or 2) the starters have been playing too many minutes. We either need to start running players to help the bench get some easy looks or get subs in earlier in the 2nd (or late 1st) so the starters can come back in with some rest to close things out going into halftime.

If the way we are playing prevents turnovers I am all for it. We could be ahead by double digits they get a three on a possession they shouldn't last of the first quarter and again second quarter. Then you add the absolutely wide open layups Nared missed. Those three plays the five point lead is twelve.

agreed, I'd rather see us slow it down than turn it over.

How are you going to put that on Kortney? When someone else’s man comes from beyond the arc to poke the ball away, because they didn’t box out their man and ball watched instead.

The ball movement and shots have been good looks. It is more of a half court game which isn’t our style but hasn’t looked half bad.

I’m thinking the style has been a problem for a few games this season. Not having a half court offensive style is confusing to me

We wen on a run when Kort and Mercedes where on the floor together, because they had to respect Kort as a shooter and that opened up the paint for Mercedes.
