Game Thread: Lady Vols at No. 4/3 LSU; 7PM; ESPN2

That's what she has now, not what she had when she took over, and it proves my point. She has upgraded the talent from a much lower base than Kellie started with and now her team is at least the equal of ours if not better. And she did this in less time.

Kellie really needs to win this game and the SC game so she can have something to point at to prove she can get it done and is not falling behind.

Mulkey, Dawn Staley, Geno, are all three far more proven coaches than CKH.

We will see if she can rise to that level. Hopeful..

I'd say win this game or the SC game or make the SECC finals or make elite 8 ... doing any of those would prove she is not falling behind.
Looking over the SEC landscape, the LVs has a chance to win the SEC regular season championship. It all starts with tonight's game. With a win tonight, the LVs likely will be 14--0 when they meet South Carolina on February 23. Take down South Carolina and KY is all that's left. Go get'em. GBO.

How is NIL money distributed through the collective? How much would the LVs get from that? If the LVs are really mired in a seperate but less than optimal NIL deal and we're stuck in LVland of 1997, I'm going to get a new hobby.
Not sure. If like anything else in sales it would be based on market value and demand. But agree, it seems we are flirting with the old times of two separate athletic departments. If we are losing kids because of NIL those operating the women’s collective might want to concede the power.

This is what I tend to think. There might be some old school, stubborn attitude towards NIL as well which plays into it.

There is no reason UT should be outbid for women's basketball players other than politics and turf protecting.

After reading BoostHer Club website it seems some of the old guard wants to be the driving force but is getting left behind.

But would the LVs have gotten more from the SPYRE deal than from the BoostHer Club? That's all I care about.

I refuse to use blue font because I trust the intelligence of Vol Nation readers to recognize an obvious satire. For the record, I am not actually recommending that Kellie wear a leather catwoman suit and sky high stilletoes during the game. (Whether I would pay $ to see her in such an outfit is, in all honesty, a different question which I shall not adddress on this board).

My first line to you was satire.

The rest was from the heart.

Going to be rooting for the Lady Vols tonight. They can beat anybody if the put the ball through the hoop more times than their opponent. Rebounding and turnovers definitely affect how many times you have to put the ball in the hoop so rebound and "possess" that ball. I remember a coach making everybody carry the ball around campus all day to teach them to hold on to it like it was part of your body. A win tonight would help a lot after that she-lacking we took from UCONN. GBO VFL

In basketball, the final scores don’t tell you as much as they do in football. Tenn belonged on the court with UCONN. They belonged on the court with Indiana, Ohio State, Virginia Tech etc. The difference is the first 3-5 minutes a game those teams aren’t filling out their own team to see who is capable or effective in the rotation. At this point, against tonight’s opponent as an observer I know Jillian Hollingshead can matchup with LSU post players but if she’s entering the game at the 6:00 min mark of the 1st quarter with Tennessee down about 5-10 points how much ground can be made up at this point? Against equally matched teams you have to play even or ahead to start the game. And I know people will attempt to justify it but if Rickea Jackson comes off the bench tonight I believe there needs to be an explanation beyond anything else we’ve heard this season.

Not gonna beat them with a sellout home crowd and SEC officiating. The fouls on us will pile up quickly.

Hang on Kellie, you have can do it.......

The problem with Jillian so far is that when she plays more than 25 minutes, she fouls out. Striplin can rack up the fouls too.

Last year SC survived a close game with LSU at Red Stick and their current team appears better than last year.

I'm sure glad we have them in Columbia this year.

I would like to see the LV's slow the game down tonight and make LSU play defense. If we try to get in a track meet with them it will get ugly fast. We absolutely have to make some 3 pts shots in the game tonight to have a chance. We were trading baskets with UCONN in the 4th quarter last week but they were making 3's and we were making 2's.

Mulkey most likely wearing rainbow polyester jackets tonight for the whiteout , expect some type of blur in the equation .....

No one has faced a schedule like ours including Connecticut . If we win tonight im calling

74-67 LV

Loss

81-65 LSU
