Game Thread Lady Vols in the CANCUN CHALLENGE

This team loses they will go down swinging they have a knack for making plays when they need to. They really keep my nerves on edge giving up most of a 14 point lead then they make some plays.

Love to have my nerves on edge, much better then a 40 point win....

interesting that the LVs and todays opponent are the only teams playing three games.

South D. has played Ok State and Indiana State. wonder how many of the faithful from SD came down for the warmth.

South Dakota scouting report

Currently 3-2. Lost at Iowa St, beat Creighton at home and Wichita State on the road, then lost to Okla St and beat Indiana State here in Cancun. All close games. Young team with a core of seniors but lost their Sr PG for season due to injuries. Head coach is in her second year at SD. Five players 6'-6'2". Scoring is divided among 5 players averaging 8-12 ppg. Finished 23-9 last year, picked to finish 3rd in Summit League this year. Ranked #20 in the "Mid-major poll" (who knew there was such a thing?). I could not find any articles about their games this year. I guess all the interest up there is focused on SD State. :(

Temp in Vermillion SD is upper 40's.

But that still don't male a case for KK to be sitting.

I want to see KK play as well. She is an aggressive space eater. Next year she and Green will be excellent at the 4 or 5, though I believe Green at the 4 and KK at at the 5 could be deadly in the paint. So far I am excited about the potential of this team.

I fear a Harris or Dunbar dilemma...
,..Not using them enough, to know, how to use them. The longer someone sits on a bench, the less you remember about what they can fully bring to the game and then you start to only put them out there for what you remember they recently brought.

while waiting for todays game I looked at schedule strength for a few teams.

against ranked teams tn plays 11games with a average rank of 12.6
USC plays 10 games, average of 16.5
UConn 9 games, average of 10.5
Tx only 7 games, average of 10.5
Baylor only 7games average of 10.

Why does everyone think Green is a good player--she's barely playing. If she were good, she should be playing more and giving Russell more rest--or maybe the coaches are fouling it up. Have to see her play more. As for Harris, I think she remains, ahem, a major project.

I watched Green go down the floor a couple of times at home...She would have been dusted in a race with MR.

U Gotta hustle all the time!..Slow don't go!

14-5. SD is clearly overmatched here. Hopefully we can stay on track and use the game to work out some of our previous problems and get more PT for the bench.
