We scratched out 5 hits, same as Utah, just not as timely. And we weren't striking out a bunch. Nothing to be concerned about.

Yes but it's teams like Utah that you have to beat on the last day of the regional after a day of round-robin play, then the final two teams will be battling it out. That's exactly what goes on at this tournament.

Tennessee has to learn to focus when they're on their fourth or fifth game in two or three days. If they don't or can't there will be no World Series.

Not trying to be a Debbie Downer or anything because basically I agree with you nothing to get excited about this point in the season, but Tennessee has to learn to win these kinds of games.

Today's game against Texas will be another test to see how they rebound.

The Utah pitcher had an odd delivery style, she had a little bit of a hesitation in her windup. In the early innings I think this threw the Tennessee batters off a bit. But they never really adjusted to it.

You are correct that she is not a strikeout pitcher ala Paige Parker of Oklahoma is. But Tennessee never got the bat on the ball solidly much during the game at all, although it's worth noting that every time they hit the ball it went right straight at a Utah player. Utah had two double play chances in this game and that's unusual, you can go several games without getting a chance at a double play and to have two in one game is pretty unusual.

As you said, Tennessee had no timely hits in this game.

One other thing, I said during the game that Arnold didn't have her best stuff. I just checked the pitch/strike ratio and Arnold was right at 60%. This is well below her season average of 70%. She wasn't quite on for this game.

Pitches: 93 strikes: 56

Jeff my thinking is Bearden or Huffstetler will can the first off the bench swings after McSwain is falling down the totem poll after last night bad at bat

Yes, Huffstetler is the only other righty beside McSwain, Geer, and Lockman. Huffstetler may get a few tries - she's a really good fielder - but McSwain is probably a better hitter power hitter.

Texas AM vs BYU still playing. TN game will start late.

Also, the scoreboard was erratic last night and today it's shut down. That will make it tough to keep track of the stats.

Ump lost count of balls and strikes. Big argument. Ump wins even though he messed up. There was a foul, called strike, 3 balls , then a called strike. But the batter gets another swing - ump had the count 3 and 1 not 3 and 2. Big fight.

Texas has really ugly uniforms, they look like washed-out military camouflage or something.

Tennessee in the white unis with orange trim - much superior.
