No one is hitting very good except for Overstreet, Gregg, Geathers, and Lewis. They seem to be our entire offense.

We are not hitting the ball well. Good grief: So many pop-ups. We did a very good job of laying off bad pitches last inning, everybody got the count is her favor--2-1, 3-1, then Burroughs throws one down the middle and we pop it up. Geathers, Geer, Aucoin--all popups, the last two with two runners on. Geer, like Aldrete, has been struggling.

I only casually follow and don't know all of the specifics about the team. But, I believe your head scratching moments have to do with youth. We have 5 girls that have double digit home runs, and all 5 are freshmen or sophomores. There are going to be growing pains with young players. Right now, we are 1 win away from the CWS with one senior on the roster. If the Weekley's can find another pitcher or two, this program is set up to be championship level for the near future.

The Vols need to start hitting. We had an outburst against lsu in the tourney, and scored some runs against kentucky, but overall the team has been scuffling at the plate for a while. It's not been so noticeable perhaps because we've been scratching out a lot of late-inning wins with some timely hits, notably by Gregg. Koenig has been in a deep slump and has been benched, Geer has not been hitting and neither, really, has Aldrete. A lot of pop flies--players consistently getting under the ball. We will be hard-pressed to keep winning unless Aldrete and Geer get it together.
