Post game interview Karen said the team had very good plate discipline against Arkansas - thus all the walks. A team goal this season was to improve the walk-to-strikeout ratio and she said this game was a good start.

She didn't seem too disappointed in the pitching saying Arkansas had good hitting and Gabriel felt good and her pitches were good, Arkansas was just hitting them. However, she didn't seem to like the four straight balls served up by Moss to walk the leadoff hitter in the top of the 4th and brought in Gaffin who shut them down.

The doubleheader tomorrow (Saturday) is no big deal since the team has been playing nothing but doubleheaders the last 4 or 5 weekends.

Go LV's and take two tomorrow!

Well we have seen all of the razorback pitchers....I'm thinking EG will pitch first followed by Moss in game 2...If we win game 1 we might see Bush a little in game 2

My oldest played travel ball with one of the Arkansas pitchers who was barely a pitcher in travel ball and did not go to Arkansas to be a pitcher. Yet here she is having to pitch. In the SEC.

Arkansas had a respectable team just a few years ago but the coach let it fall to barely above intramural talent level the past few years. New coach in first year can't work miracles with a bare cupboard.

While 18 runs in an SEC game is great, consider the pitching they are facing. This was a great first SEC weekend opponent, better to play someone like this that can at least hit a little, then go all out first series vs Florida.

The team travels to Jacksonville for a midweek game against North Florida Wednesday then a big three game series against Florida at Gainesville next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We're going to find out how good the softball team is after that series. The Friday game is on ESPNU and the Saturday and Sunday games are on the SEC Network.

Nice sweep. Good plate discipline, steady pitching and some timely hits. Last game was lackluster in every way, save for the big hit by gregg, but great to get a sweep to start SEC season against a team that figures to be at or near the bottom of the conference.

and another photo -- I really like the new uniforms without that blue in them

Nike's trying to Oregonize everyone. Some of their uniforms do look good but I thought the Lady Vol baby blue trim looks better than the grey. I'm with Gule.
