Game Thread Lady Vols Softball Team week 6

Florida's defense is the best. Ocasio only had 4 strikeouts, the fielder's cleaned up every ball that was hit.

The thing is, Ocasio threw a LOT of strikes. Her strike/pitch ratio was .71 which is high. Almost too high. And throwing 78 pitches in 7 innings averages out to a mere 3.4 pitches to each batter. Tennessee wasn't very patient at the plate swinging at all those strikes but not getting good wood on the ball.

Just watched the replay; tonight our girls played like a bunch of girls--scared, nervous, anxious and overwhelmed, esp. after they gave up a few runs early. They just lost their focus. They gotta be strong-willed, focused, determined and patient next time out. We can take one game off these Gators. They are not invincible. But our pitching must hold up, and we have to limit our (mental) errors to a bare minimum. Go Vols! #BeatFlorida

I posted the other day that we would need to outscore SEC opposition 6-5.7-6 10-9,etc and we would need to hit the ball like we have against lesser competition because we do not have a dominating pitcher against good teams.Someone replied that there are no dominating pitchers in college softball anymore......well I believe I just saw one tonite ....or are my eyes deceiving me ? At least we only made one error tonite.

Ocasio can be dominant at times. She's been hit before too. But Walton can develop pitchers probably better than anyone in the league. We need some leadership from our veterans like Geathers, Gaffin, Overstreet, McSwain and Gregg. Hard to believe they are our veterans. We are a really young team though.

There are none...there are staff ace's but not dominating pitchers....watch a little more softball than just when Tennessee plays and you'll see

You just made an erroneous statement ....I watch a lot of softball other than UT .....sorry to bust your optimistic bubble .So if you want to call them aces on Florida;s staff so be it but their aces are much better than anyone that UT has whether you want to call them dominant or not.....fact is we have no " aces" to compete with their aces.

when does the game start today ? watchespn has the game starting at 12 today and there seems to be some show on and UTs website says 2

Okay name the dominant pitchers in softball today...Don't worry I'll wait

I'm not sure Orange Blood, that is probably what it is

but it doesn't say rain delay on the program that is running

of course i haven't paid much attention to it either :)

I'm seeing the same as you. My SEC Network lineup says there's a baseball game on at 2 pm. The softball game could be moved to watchespn.com or to the alternate SEC station when they decide to show the game?

wow that didn't take very long :)

side struck out,top of the first

score is 0 to 0

bottom of the 1st coming up

This ump isn't calling it consistently. Giving Florida pitcher strikes and the same pitch calling balls on Erin.
