No because there are none nice try though....the only one that people used to think could've been one was Hawkins out in Oregon but the last few years she has been tattooed....the days of Abbott, Osterman, Finch, Lawrie, blades,Goerl, Fernandaz, Michelle Smith, and Ricketts are gone....you would throw those ladies out there and you knew you would win
I know you all dont want to hear this and will think i am talking trash, but there are about 5 schools in the country that can compete with florida right now.
So, i know people will be disappointed in the results but it just is what it is right now.
Its a machine that walton has built down there
That is your opinion however misguided it mat be .
There are no dominate pitchers out there like the ones I have named none!!! I'm still waiting on you to name just one! I've been following softball since the pac 10 now pac 12 days when that conference was unstoppable....there are no dominate pitchers out there
Dominant is perhaps defined differently by you than it is for me.....you certainly spell it in a different way.
errors and pitching I guess![]()
...It just seems like they are not alert or ready to play in the 1st inning and to me that is a mystery.
That mystery is what I'm trying to solve. Ralph said the pitchers are not throwing strikes, yet they do as the game wears on. Are they not warming up properly?
I've said all season it's pitching and fielding. I still believe the pitching will be ok - Florida has less hits in these two games than in the first two games of any other series. But the bad first inning is a mystery I agree.
The dropped fly was not scored an error was it?
I can subscribe to this ^^^^^.They need to step it up both pitching and fielding because they already have nearly double digit losses.FL is a favorite to three-peat as a NC, and I don't think the series against them should be used on prejudging this young team's fortitude, makeup or potential. It's way too early in the season, and this year's team has a lot of upsides and room to improve upon. I can see this team being very good in late Apr-early May.
Unlike yesterday 'tho, I thought the girls as a whole were more patient at the plate, didn't waver but showed some fight today. Barnhill and Ocasio were just too tough to hit. Sometimes Weeklys, particularly Ralph, make some head-scratching moves, and i thought the coaching decision to bring in Rainey was a bad call. Should have left Erin in and let her wiggle out of the jam IMO. Erin was very effective today, and Rainey's balls were just dropping too low for the ump to call strikes.
I wouldn't quite say that we are facing a murderer's row with the remaining SEC schedule against the likes of MS ST, MO, TAMU, GA, AU & Ole MS. Sure, all SEC teams are tough outs except for Arkansas perhaps, but it's very doable, and there's no LSU nor Alabama on the horizon this year. With somewhat favorable schedule handed our way we could finish in the top 3 or 4 in the SEC.
In time our pitching should come around (i became encouraged by how Moss and Bush did yesterday), errors should be eliminated, and should we continue to hit well, then we'll have a chance to host not only the regional but we may very well host the super regional as well. That's a key to getting to another WCWS. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one.
I wouldn't be surprised nor discouraged if we get swept by Gator girls tomorrow. I have a feeling we'll have our best game against them in the finale either way. Keep your heads high and keep pushing. #GoVols!
I was watching the game today, and as much as I hate "calling out" an umpire, this home plate ump had Florida "blue" flowing through his veins! lol. We had the bases loaded with only one out and 2 two LV batters, Overstreet and Gaethers, both take THIRD called strikes! The call on Overstreet was around the ankles, and the one on Gaethers was a foot off the outside corner...but Vines should have scored when our shortstop singled over the 2nd baseman's head instead of stopping at 3rd base earlier in the inning...commentators said that with more experience Vines should be able to "read" the ball better, and know sooner that it clearly was headed into the outfield and not hesitate. Defense was very poor today...Vines charged a shallow ball hit into left and didn't call off our shortstop who was trying to get into position to make a play also...clearly a ball better fielded by an outfielder running TOWARD the ball, as commentators pointed out. Defense has to improve, Gabriel pitched well enough to win this game.
