First game with LSU is tomorrow (Friday). I'm not optimistic about the LV's chances. Ralph as well sounded a little down about the series in one of the interviews, basically saying we'll play the games and see what happens.

Gregg has moved into a tie for 3rd on the team in HR's behind Koenig, Aldrete, and tied with Geer. She is also 3rd in RBI's behind the same two.

Koenig's slump continues. Aldrete is not in as prolonged a slump as Koenig but she is cold and is lagging behind her pace of last season. She is 2 of her last 21 at-bats with no HR's and no RBI's.

Against LSU would be a good time to break out of it. Please?

Longshot but does anyone have 3 tickets for the Saturday game against LSU? If not, does anyone know if the scalpers show up for the softball games as well?

Nevermind: Bought 3 for tonight.

Aldrete needs to start talking to herself again. Geez not rocket science. Do what works.

If we can win 1 of 3, I will not be upset.

Our pitching is erratic.
Our infield is weak.
Our outfield needs more time.

We can hit the ball .... sometimes.

Just FYI but there is usually a guy in the parking lot out toward the soccer stadium. Everytime I've been there he is standing there.

LV's lose 5-1. The LV's hold Bell in check but Jaquish kills them with 2 homers and 4 RBI's.

Why in the world did Tarango start?? It's clear from her history that she is a spot pitcher to be used in the middle innings until Gaffin can come in.

The good news is Aucoin pitched almost 5 innings in relief and gave up no runs and only one hit. For her that is great.

Was either Gabriel or Gaffin injured?

Ralph said the hitting was very passive and they need to attack. He said the defense was good - good plays in the field - and Gretchen pitched well. The only thing he said about Tarango was the two HR's Jaquish hit were on changeups and the changeups were too slow. I still don't know why she started and not Gabriel.

Who pitched the double header on Wednesday? That might answer the question.

Yes, the pitching is very hard to follow this year. Very hot and cold from all of them. Probably very difficult for Ralph and Karen to decide who to go with. Also, the hitting over all has been in a terrible slump. It might bode well for the end of the season and the tournament though or it might continue to suck all year.

In the double header game 1 Gabriel pitched 5.1 innings and Gaffin 1.2 innings.

Game 2 was Aucoin 2 innings, Tarango 1.2, and Gaffin 3.1 innings.

Gaffin may have needed rest since they limit her pitches. Tarango obviously needs work, but starting against LSU?? They should have reversed it - start Aucoin and bring in Tarango. Not that it would have much mattered.

I don't see that 5.1 innings from Gabriel on Wednesday is excessive but I guess they wanted to give her an extra day of rest.

Teams used to throw their no. 1 pitcher game after game after game. We don't have one, which i guess is problem no. 1.

this is true,i do think they are limiting Gabriel ,I do think she is still knocking the rust off of her game from the surgery and I'm not sure how much it has affected her pitching either

Aucoin still is having problems with pitch location,I don't know if this was a problem with her last year, since she is a transfer

I thought the plan would be to try to get three or four good innings out of Gabriel or Aucoin then bring on Gaffin.
Tarango has been a mystery to me she has played a lot more than her production throughout her career. She is something like a career .239 hitter and her ERA in pitching I think is average as well.
I expect we'll see Gabriel today and Ralph should hope she can throw three good innings then bring on Gaffin. I am hoping we can get one game in this series hate to be swept at home.

Gabriel pitched well in that inning. Players need to catch a ball hit right at them and the umpire needs to call a strike a strike. Every pitcher needs help from her fielders and an umpire that knows a strike from a ball.
