Game Thread Lady Vols vs Albany

What was her excuse last season at this point when the team looked identical and was struggling to beat crappy teams at home like Wichita State -- which was also a result of poor offensive play?

We've struggled to beat four teams in a row all at home in almost the exact same manner. Some of them are better teams than others, but honestly none of them should be within 15 points of us, especially at TBA -- and TBH that's being nice.

Well, another great game by Holly and Company. We can't pass, we can't shoot and we don't defend worth a dime. Still we are #4 according to someones poll. If we are #4 in the nation, I've been to the Moon and back!

If that's the fourth best team in America, women's basketball should be dissolved.

How many days have we been able to practice since the beginning of the season?

And by NCAA rules you are still limited in the amount of time you can practice even on a trip to Italy.

And I don't make excuses, we are young in the season, and our team is a work in progress, but fans negativity is not going to speed up that progress. Ijs.

Deshields always bails us out.

I would have to disagree. She scored 11 points because she is a volume shooter, not a good shooter. She shot 4-12 (33%), while the rest of the team shot 16-35 (46%). I would rather have the shots taken by the 46% shooters instead of the 33% shooter. As a team, we still shoot well under 50%.

Pretty sure we have the same number of practice days as everyone else.

Well let me see you play a game every day, and a game after Thanksgiving against a quality opponent. Our ladies are fine but to beat Texas our guards have to play better, our team have to play better.

With no disrespect to Albany's program, they played six players today and 3 of them combined for 9 points. It was obvious that they were exhausted midway through the 3rd quarter and yet Tenn let them stay within a basket of taking the lead with a few minutes left in the game.

This is not how a team ranked 4th or 5th in the country should play against a mid-major with a fraction of the talent and virtually no bench.

If a coach is out coached....shouldn't they be losing games regardless of the players on the floor?

No we are loaded with talent. Holly is relying on that alone. Don't think coaching is her thing. These girls are very talented. I could coach them to 30 wins.

Not when you have ten times more talent (or more) than every team you've played -- even with our players that aren't very good (who should be better ... which is the point).

And did you SERIOUSLY just ask this question? :thud:

No you can be out coached and still win because players decide to take over the game/tune you out. Last game Diamond make key plays and refused to allow us to lose and it was at critical points in this game she did the same. You don't always have to score to make a key play in a game

Ya know our ladies aren't perfect. Yes, we need to play better, and I do think we are the #4 team in the country, we prolly haven't played like it but we will be tough out for anyone other than Uconn.

Lady Vol fans make UT football fans look like nuclear physicists.

I'm assuming it will be much better since Texas is actually a legitimately good team -- not just good for a midmajor like Albany or UTC.

Texas lost in the NCAA tournament earlier this year by 52 points. Is that your definition of legitimately good?

Texas will be the tell all game, they beat us last year. They will tell us all we need to know about this team early in the season, it will be a great test.
