Their coach was class, having to face the press following the game. She is authentic.

and twice she called time-out immediately when her team didn't get back on defense. shades of PHS!

Noted when Westbrook made an outstanding block and then faced the other player while both were out of bounds - the male referee spoke to her. The article stated that she game the player the Candice stare. And I remember that C received comments from refs for similar "looks." that simple stare by a freshman is a statement.

Yes! I liked her comments comparing us and Baylor: "They're both really, really good. Of course, I don't want to stick my nose out there to say one is better than the other, but I did talk to Holly. She knows how I feel. So, I'm going to keep it at that."

Thought this was nice as well: "The thing is, they play well together. One thing I've noticed about Tennessee, this team, this year, they really play together. They play well off of each other. When you've got your team playing that way, they play unselfish. From what I've seen on film and here tonight, everybody's encouraging each other. They're tremendous. I'd like one of them."

She's playing comfortable,,,Not scared to make a mistake.

If they have permission to fail, they will have permission to succeed.

Hmm, has Holly really done a 180* and gone from not giving players permission to fail and making them scared to try things, to giving them permission to push the envelope so they succeed?

Or was there some other reason that the players were formerly scared to try things?

Annie Hayes 68 free throw attempts. That is more than Russell and Nared together which is 60. She knows how to get to the line and she hits 77 percent.

Westbrook up to 43 percent shooting after a slow start. Davis 49 percent. Nared 41 percent. Russell 68 percent.
In 12 minutes a game Green is averaging 5 points and 4 rebounds shooting 60 percent from the field.

I think it's a combination of both

I think Holly was under so much pressure to try to silence the critics and maintain the greatest coach ever (this is my opinion) legacy that it made things harder for her

Not to mention she had an enigma or two on the roster that made it difficult for everyone else to truly be themselves.

Now that they are no long a factor (and no I am not putting it all on them) She and other players are free to do what is best for the program and not what's best for them personally.

I've simplified it for myself. It's like the 1991 season, Just forget the bad juju of 1990 and move on.

A big factor for me is the wonderful job Mercedes, Jaime, and MeMe are doing as teammates to our great froshies. They're giving them something the great rookie class of 2009 never had, senior leadership.

Dunbar is vocal and a being a solid leader too. She may not get huge minutes but she has worked hard into becoming a solid role player after two years of dealing with foot issues.

I think this season over last is that all the players on the roster are paying attention to the scouting report and their duties on the basketball court. I think last year that was only half true.
