Game Thread Lady Vols vs Georgia

Definitely. This game is more the players coming out fired up because they don't want a loss on senior day at home than anything Holly has done today. I think they're doing a lot of things on their own today and it's lovely and eye-opening!

The players need their butts kicked if they could have decided to do this all season long

Looks like a fire was lit on the ladies... DD looks great out there. So... senior day may be the reason, if so then it is telling that the rest of the season there was little to no positive inspiration or a lack of coaching to lift the team out of a funk.

That would show poor coaching... a common theme this year.

Glad to see the seniors go out this way.

This game personifies why I believe objective #1 for Holly and staff has to be repairing the relationship with Diamond and potentially her family. That may mean them making concessions they are uncomfortable with or wouldn't do for any other player but we've seen both sides now this year. Games with no Diamond (LSU/Bama) and games with Diamond (today). Absent some mind blowing transformation by the other players they can't afford to lose her off next years team.

The LV's have given up 56 points in less than three quarters. Don't stamp your tickets to the final four just yet.

I swear, this Lady Vols team has Multiple Personality Disorder. You never know which team will show. And even if the good team shows, you can't get it to stick around for an entire game. Regardless, I'm happy the Seniors go out with a win at home.

Still, this was a bad season. The only saving grace would be a deep tournament run, but even with that, it won't erase the terrible new lows established for this program this year. Only a National Championship would erase that. And we all know THAT'S not happening.

Holly puts to many subs in the game at the same time totally stupid to have Middleton and Dunbar in the game at the same time. They are virtually the same player with the same skill set and the same position.
Not to bad only lost that quarter by a couple of points.

I thought Holly's substitutions this game were outstanding. I especially like how she'd bring Carter off the bench to create some havoc on the defensive end, but not keep her in too long to disrupt the offensive flow. Same with Dunbar on offense, then taking her out when Georgia started getting easy buckets on her.

All in all, excellent game by most of the players, although I have to say I was a bit disappointed in Mercedes. But the team played very, very well on both ends. Should Tennessee advance to the game vs. SC in the SEC tournament, I think they could give them a real run for their money if they play at this level.

The main negative I noticed was slow getting back on defense and slow reaction time by Mercedes. Not too many forces into the middle meant fewer muffed catches and turnovers also.

Way to cap off the regular season! About time they played a decent game! Need to do this in the SEC tourney in Jacksonville starting Wednesday.

I couldn't agree with you more here. Holly can do herself and the rest of the team a big favor by continuing to start Diamond and bring Carter off the bench for limited defensive minutes. Why it took Holly the entire season to finally realize this is beyond me.

Say what you will about Diamond, and some of the criticism has been legit, but she gives the Lady Vols their best chance at a deep run in both the SEC tournament and NCAA.

Despite Cooper having a tremendous game today, I still like her coming off the bench as well. I think Reynolds provides more of a steadying force and doesn't turn it over nearly as much as Cooper. I think Coop has a tremendous future as a Lady Vol, but she is still having a few growing pains, so to speak, but if she decides to stay, I think she will be awesome player for us next season..

Mercedes is quite a disappointment for me, but I saw some concern with her as a freshman, so it's not a total shock. I think bringing her off the bench and starting someone else in her place is probably a good idea as well

Couldn't agree more with you here. Losing Diamond next season could probably be the final nail in Holly's proverbial coaching coffin.
