LSU has been underestimated by many in the forum though perhaps not in this thread. I have heard it repeatedly said here that they have no depth, but the assessment in Baton Rouge is they have the best depth they have had since Kim has been there. Their bench has averaged 26.5 points and more so in the two SEC games. Perhaps people who haven't followed them didn't realize that three significant players are finally recovering from injuries including Smith, Wolfenbarger, and Del Rosario, which has given them more depth as the season progresses. To me, they have been erratic at the point guard. The one pg that has been excellent at times is Gilbert. She is extremely quick, has a decent 3 point shot, and can drive and penetrate. She is averaging 16.5 in SEC play. She makes them a complete team when she is playing well. Fortunately for us, she has been extremely inconsistent. So, it is paramount that she has a poor game against the LVs, especially since we can feast on point guards who are not focused. We will need to play a much better game against LSU than we did against OU to win, as LSU with their three All-Americans and a better supporting cast than most people realize will definitely be better than OU. I don't think we will out-rebound them, so I think our best hope is getting many turnovers, playing better defense, and hitting our shots.

Unfortunately, I kinda suspect there won't have been enough practice time this week to plug all the holes the race against OU put in the LV boat. The areas of breakdown have been fairly consistent for a while now, so the staff and players certainly have their work cut out for them.

As has been said many times, this is a work in progress, and we just need them to keep making steady improvement. Sadly, the first three quarters of the last game felt like a step backward, and that was jarring.

So what happens in the next month is gonna tell the tale. The system currently has cracks in it that the top teams can easily expose, but I still feel like we have a roster capable of making a deep run -- IF adjustments are made by everyone on the team and staff.

The effort is there but needs more direction. Don't give up on this team. There's still time to get it done.

Gilbert has looked very sharp in the couple of games I have caught, which makes me nervous. Despite my dislike of her, I also think Kim M is an excellent coach who is capable of making adjustments. I hope Oklahoma lit a fire under our Lady Vols and they are gunning for an upset, but I really fear seeing stagnant ball movement in the offense and lapses in the defense. I think this team is responsive to Kim C, so I hope they really locked in and improved upon what they can. It would be nice to add a signature win before the baby arrives.

I am surprised that there are more tickets left in the lower bowl for the LSU game than the last two games. This includes tickets that have never been sold, not just ones for resale. I know we lost to OU, but these tickets should have been sold out before that game. it looks like attendance for the LSU game will be less than the 11,000 plus for the WINTHROP game and far less than the 15,000 + for the LSU game last year. Yes, last year's game was on a Sunday, but UT drew big crowds last year for weekday games against SC and UCONN, respectively. This year's LV team deserves better! Perhaps we need to finally upset some of these teams to get the fans from other sports to start showing up to the games. Hope the LSU game will start this new pattern.

6:30 on a weekday is hard, even for me and I work on campus!

The Lady Vols attendance from the start has been really strong all season. Nothing can deny that fact. On par with the best in the nation.
The stuff I see with a handful of people trying to discredit the Lady Vols attendance is nonsense.
We all can see it and I’m glad the players, coaches, and school leaders are making these posts to acknowledge the support the LV program is getting at home.

They can't have a repeat of the defensive breakdowns in the press and half court that we saw against Oklahoma if they're going to win this game. I felt like there were so many instances where we'd score, only to turn around and see Oklahoma score at the other end within 10 seconds. If we can cut down on those miscues, I think it'll be easier for us to score and build momentum (and get the crowd into the game).

Very excited for this one! I think it may actually be beneficial for the team to have the Oklahoma game fresh in their mind.
