They're not ideal, and they may not even do them in practice. But they definitely need to do SOMEthing to get better at close-range shots.
I would love to sit in on three consecutive practices to see what they're doing, or maybe NOT doing. The layup misses have pretty much been an issue the entire season, so that makes me think it's not being worked on enough, or properly, in practice. Something is super wrong there, and i hope the staff re-thinks how the team practices those.
I thought before the season started that this would be point we'd be starting to see the system smoothing out a bit, and that we'd be rolling. Instead, we seem to have taken some small steps backward -- and it's obviously not just because of the schedule getting tougher. We came dangerously close to a bad loss today, and the team looked visibly unhappy/confused to me, and that was NOT something that I expected to see at this point. It's worrisome.
I'm thinking there needs to be a bit of a mid-season reset for everyone on the team and staff and for everyone to look for better ways to get the job done. Whatever they've been doing in practice to practice shooting and getting shooters shots, do something else. Shake things up while there's still time!
