@Coach Jumper in regard to your matchups, why not put Horston on Cooke?
You can sag off Fletcher and Johnson because they can't shoot 3s. Putting Horston on them seems like a waste of her talents.

I like to match speed with speed and for the PG spot, I like to put a dog on a dog
However,,
If I want to mix it up a "Jordan is being Jordan" then I will use Horston's length to contain Cook

I think the perimeter matchups are the least of our worries. If we could get them to shoot from the perimeter all their shot attempts I would love our chance to win the game. Who is going to contain that inside game cause without that SC is not any better than a lot of other teams. If they didn't have Boston and Cordoso I like our chances to make a game of it this week. Those two looks like we have no answer for in this game.

Just based on matchups inside, I think we have to play a zone, we have the length to be effective there as a unit, but one on one with Boston and Cardoso is just a handful, this is the matchup where you really miss Tamari. Pack it in, make them beat you with the long ball, hard close outs on Cooke, Beal has been able to hit 1 or 2 lately but I don’t think she can go off from the perimeter, just not her game.
Lady vols pull out a close one 68-64

Yea if we had Key, I’d say we had a fighting chance at making this a game but they’re going to destroy us inside.

You don't want hard close outs on Cooke, because she will just head straight to the hoop with no worries about Key there to contest her shot.

Sometimes with SC, the bricked 3 pointer is the easiest way to get an assist to Boston/Cardoso.

Johnson is getting more shot`s up now and can knock it down, Remember she is coming back from that ACL injury and is getting more comfortable. She no longer needs the knee brace also can get to the rack. Fletcher is a different story but TN will need to guard Johnson. Johnson hit a big 3 in that Ole Miss game and she is very good in the open floor as we all know. As for putting Horston on Cooke not a bad you can. Then Darby will be matched up with Beal ?

You are 100% correct about Beal she has been offensive weapon this year from the outside and really gets on the glass. I would think Darby will be matched up against her in this game.

Darby on Beal is probably the best matchup for Tennessee, unless Beal realizes that Darby is on her and decides to take her to the woodshed. Otherwise, she won't be looking to score.

Dawn was ask in her press conference if she expect TN to go to a zone like Ole Miss did and she said yes. And Dawn did say the zone has been a problem for them and will try and clean some things up.

You would really have to pack in the zone and be okay giving up a ton of open 3s. This might be our best option but I wouldn't want to lose track of Cooke because she can end us.

I would prefer mostly man-to-man and just mix in the zone. Make it physical, make it a bloodbath, like when the men beat Bama. Put Hoston on Cooke, hope she can shut Cooke down with no help. Have the other guards double everything in the post and just live with giving Cocks not names Cooke several open 3s.

On offense I want Darby to get 10+ 3s up. I do NOT want to see our guards getting swatted by the trees (hello Walker/Powell - be smart). Horston needs to get her shots up in the 10-15 ft range. Jackson can be very effective with her 10 ft fade away. I don't see our posts having any luck inside, they should focus on passing to open 3-point shooters and open 15-footers - Striplin and Hollingshead are quite good at these. I might also try to use Striplin to bring their center out to the 3 point line.

I agree with the comments and analysis in the last paragraph. On offense, Tess should put up about 15 3s. (And her teammates cannot miss all opportunities Tess
is open for the long ball.) I believe Jordan H and Rickea will get theirs. Hollingshead and Striplin very well may be the difference in this game, shooting from the 10-15 foot range and with a few 3s mixed in and some putbacks. I am looking for Jordan W to have an all-around game, with rebounds, assists, and steals. Look for a LVs win. GBO.

Exactly. And that OT puts the LV OT loss to Ole Miss in a somewhat better light.
Tennessee lost to MSST, not Ole Miss. Coincidentally, MSST was SC’s toughest SEC game (7 pt win) until the Ole Miss OT win. The common theme was the SC played poorly in both games, but dominated the boards and defensively enough to win anyway.

This is the measuring stick for the Lady Vols .
It's not the offensive side of the ball we have to worry about , its Beal , Fletcher and SC elite defense which causes problems and Beal rarely sits , whoever is hot she'll be ball hawking and she can shoot threes. She's SC MVP.
One thing SC has which we don't is Dawn Staley and her coaching staff.
SC 70
TN 49
