Home crowd keeps things juiced for about 2.5 quarters but in the end SC is just too good. I see about a 15 point loss
Which would repeat last year's game here almost exactly. Led at halftime, close in 3rd, fell completely apart in 4th and lost by 11.

Hopefully the LVs can break out of that mold.

I believe either team can win....but there is no way it will be a 15-point win for us unless the wheels fall off for Tennessee. That ain't happening.
That total padded late bc of intentional fouls. Again, that's what happened in a close game here last yr.

I don't think it will be to the wire. Either the LVs play great and win by 5-8 or SC wins by 10-15.

I agree superfly.
Tennessee is a team that hasn’t reached its ceiling. The numbers show that sustainable progress is being made which is a good sign.
You know there’s still a few posters here that live in the past and assume that this season’s Lady Vol team is comparable to last season which is comical.
This group has competed with every single Top 10 team it has faced this season for four quarters with each game coming down to the final possession. The lead changes and back forth in these games is what has people on the outside recognizing the LVs as a formidable team.
The results haven’t been favorable but it’s bound to end with the LVs coming out with a W.
That’s nothing like recent years.

💯

SC has speed up and down the roster, and since there are some soft spots in that area for Tennessee, that very well could be what eventually separates SC from us. I worry about committing fouls because we can't guard them for 40 minutes because they have a super deep bench and won't get worn down like many opponents do.

And yes, we could either win by a little or lose by a lot depending on our shooting.

I doubt. Tennessee is a team that is as athletic as any Top 10 team in WBB.
It works both ways.
SC is not too good for Tennessee to beat them by 1-3 points or 8-10 points.
Matter of fact, South Carolina close game against Michigan to start the season is just as good as an indicator as their recent success in big wins against ranked teams that this game will be decided based on which version of each team shows up Monday night.
Tennessee will eventually finish a close game on the winning side against a Top 10 opponent.
The key for Tennessee is making their free throws and rebounding. That has nothing to do with size. SC isn’t any bigger than Tennessee.
If the staff wants to improve rebounding that comes down to who you play together. Hollingshead and Spearman never play together.
I believe extending Latham minutes would help with rebounding. Players against Texas were standing and watching the ball come off the rim in a spot. One of the few players I saw go attack the ball of the rim was Kaniya Boyd. A 5’9 freshman guard. Again it’s not about size it’s about hustle and grit to improve the rebounding.

I love the LV's but just don't see beating S.C. or LSU this season.
I feel the same way. But i do see a lot of improvement in the Lady Vols this year. coach Kim is the right one for head coach of the Lady Vols. You can see a improvement of the Lady Vols from last year to this year. When coach Kim gets a few recruiting classes in here, i think they will be back in running for a National title again. And i believe a lot of women will want to play for her in this system. They know they will get to play in first year.

South carolina is good no doubt im not a fan of there starting lineup so while that group is in i believe we can def compete its when fulwiley, edwards and tessa come in and staying even on the boards(knock on wood)

I see Tennessee competing for four quarters in this game and getting over the hump.
I know it’s typical to see SC as having a deep team but there’s certainly vulnerability and not just in their starting lineup.
I also think Tennessee starting lineup is a liability with the four guard lineup.
I believe early in the season when they went away for Favor Ayodele that completely made this team one dimensional.
That’s been the setback in rebounding and defense.
Seems like they’ve settled on Latham over Ayodele when it should’ve been both players having a larger role in the post.

I'm thinking this game will be a lot like the men's game last night. Close hard fought all the way. If either team has a bad game it probably won't be very interesting. We know SC has what it takes to be a winner. I really think the Lady VOLS have enough pieces to also be a winner. By tournament time the low post defense should be good enough to win against anyone. We were just not strong enough down low against ut jr and still had a great chance to beat them at their house. GLV 💥

At this point, talking about the deficiencies in the post without making the necessary changes is irrelevant.
Alyssa Latham and Favor Ayodele both were starters last season in the ACC.
Both registered multiple double double games.
One is completely out of the rotation and the other (Latham) plays 13.5 minutes per game this season following her freshman season at Syracuse where she averaged 27.6 minutes per game scoring 8.2 points per game and 7.0 rebounds. Right now for the men’s team their leading rebounder Milicic plays 26.8 minutes per game and averages 8.1 rebounds.
It’s simple if they want to improve the rebounding deficiency start Latham and increase Ayodele role off the bench.
If this doesn’t change then the gameplan is to outscore teams not to improve in the areas of need which is defense and rebounding.

What someone did at another school last season is irrelevant to whether someone is earning that type of spot in the rotation at Tennessee this year.

The coaching staff bases who it takes out of the transfer portal based on what players did somewhere else last year. The coaching staff bases its rotations this year based on what they see in practice and meetings.

Hope to win vs expect to win.

The winner’s edge. The chasm that champions manage to traverse…

Saban rarely spoke publically to the issue, because it was foundational.
That's a chasm the Lady Vols haven't traversed in a number of years. Hopefully, this staff and this team or subsequent teams will regain that mindset. Hope so.

Starting and playing a four guard lineup isn’t an asset it’s a liability. It has worked in spots this season but isn’t reliable enough to win in close games.
One of the guards need to come off the bench and provide scoring to balance out the substitution patterns.
Starting Alyssa Latham with Lazaria Spearman or Jillian Hollingshead in the front court is a winning formula.
