I don't know where the coach's responsibility ends and a player's responsibility begins, but at some point players have to invest themselves in playing to the best of their ability. They must own their play and their improvement.
Maybe the deficiency has to do with instilling them with the discipline and focus to play within themselves, I don't know. Maybe that's on the coaches. I wish I knew. I wish they knew. I wish someone knew.
