Beat the Cuse 57-55 back in November....I'm expecting the game to be about the same....the thing is Holly has been using the "Underdog" term so far in the tourney....well now you're the favorite how does your team react?? And for the 3rd time in a row you're handed a final 4 appearance are you going to get it done???

LVs are still the underdog-- 7 seed vs. 4 seed, with Syracuse given 52% odds. So the underdog strategy is still viable.

I agree that this game will be more of a battle than OSU. Syracuse knows how to defend the paint and takeaway easy post points. OSU played into the LVs hands by rather inexplicably letting Mercedes and Bash roam free for large stretches of the game.

Syracuse is going to force the LVs to make some outside shots. Diamond, Tea, Jordan (hopefully) and Nared will need to play well. Diamond was a little off for this one so hopefully, she can get going all the way against Syracuse.

I guess you didn't watch the first game, where Graves ate them up inside, they really have no answer inside for her, and certainly not for Merecedes improved, and Nared with unbroken hand. We will play them just like Ohio State, and if we are playing the same way, we will dictate the pace. We are bigger, faster, and deeper, than them. SC is, I am sorry not coached well. There was no excuse they didn't get the ball inside and shot more 3's in the 2nd half than 2 point shots! We are much better on defense, why we beat Syracuse before, and we were short handed.

They didn't let anyone roam free, we played great defense, that is what we do, but we are shooting better, so transition game, which is this teams bread and butter is working, and we are making passes. Syracuse could do nothing with Graves in first game, and now Nared, who didn't play and Russell, will dominate in the paint. Syracuse is lucky Staley is not a great game coach. There is no reason her team shout so many 3 pointers, more than 2 pointers in 2nd half. Diamond, Cooper, Carter, Nared, and hopefully Reynolds will drive and dish

But, But, But ----- half of VolNation wants us to hire Staley as our coach ???
Or Jeff Waltz, or Muffet, or Matthew Mitchell. Any of them could interview today - they are not doing anything else the rest of the weekend.

I never wanted to hire Staley--and in fact said all along that she's never won anything. She's a recruiter more than anything.

Agreed! I'd still take Muffett and Waltz over Holly any day of the week...even though one poster thinks Holly is better than both :eek:lol::crazy:

You must have watched a different game than I did.OSU used a full court 1/2/2 press for the majority of the game which resulted in a scattered court allowing great freedom of movement by our low posts ....that freedom of movement resulted in big games by both Mercedes and Beast. They will not have that freedom of movement against the Syracuse zone ....they will have to make a good % of jump shots to open up the zone to win this game .Half court sagging zones restricting the movement of our low posts have been our Achilles heel in our 13 losses and sluggish play against other mediocre teams all year.

Keep the offense going. If we score in the 70's again this is a win.

Hitting shots and scoring points solves a lot of problems doesn't it? If the team doesn't shoot 50% and instead shoots it's normal - what - 42%, then they score 66 points instead of 78. The entire dynamic changes.
