Game Thread: Lady Vols Vs Texas A&M, Thurs Jan 2nd ; Away game; 8 PM Eastern; SEC+ stream win 91-78

You only watching the 4th qtr makes what you said irrelevant because anybody that watched the whole game know that what statistics that player finished with might look decent on paper but she really wasnā€™t a factor.
Texas A&M wasnā€™t a factor. The refs controlled this game. Talaysia Cooper, Ruby Whitehorn, and Alyssa Latham pretty much set the tone in the 2nd qtr.
Jewel Spear was the best player on the court for all four quarters.
Saying Coulibaly killed UT tonight is comical.
Kim Caldwell Said Coulibaly Killed UT tonight and that the game outcome may have been very different had she not gotten into foul trouble in the first Half. Coulibaly scored at will when she wanted to against us in the Second half.

I remember having Aicha envy when she was at Auburn. That girl can play.

I think most would give the edge to Pearl. He has a jovial, frat boy demeanor, good hair and nice features. Barnes facial features are a bit sharp (date I say rodent like). Not surprised that Pearl went into sales between coaching jobs. I could totally see him killing it in a used car lot or selling insurance to elderly widows.

Pearl is not afraid to bare his chest either, whereas I am having a hard time imagining Barnes pulling that move. Body confidence counts for something.

Per the Kim versus Kellie catwalk competition. I think those voting Kim are being swayed by the younger, fresh face but Kellie is a classic beauty. She could have been a model in her 20 and 30's. Actually at any point., She rocked those little black dresses on the sidelines.

Not really a competition there but I am glad.

I think having a "mean chipmunk" coach is going to be secret sauce that propels this team to greatness.
I would have to agree Pearl definitely has that rakish charm. Barnes is like your 7th grade Sunday school teacher.
You are dead right there is a clear difference between beauty and cute. Cute fades and beauty can develop over time and last longer.
I can think of numerous women who were not considered cute in high school or even college that were stunning at 30.
But back to what mattersā€¦our LVs!

I keep having a strong feeling Latham is about to become a major force on both ends of the court. We have definitely gotten a glimpse into what she can be recently, and so when "it" happens for her, it's gonna be epic. And if Jillian continues to show her strengths, with her, Latham and Spearman in the post I don't think we'll need to worry about that area of the floor anymore.

And Ruby Whitehorn is crushing it. I'm a huge fan of that kid!
Yep

It doesnā€™t matter to me I donā€™t worship people words. Her opinion of the game are simply that and I have my own.
The best player on the court was Jewel Spear. It doesnā€™t take Coach Caldwell or Coach Taylor to tell me that. Ironic how so few of you casual fans are even mentioning Spear performance.
Coulibaly couldnā€™t guard a soul on defense in the 1st or 2nd half thatā€™s why she picked up those fouls.
Jewel Spear burned her on threes when she stepped out on the perimeter.
Talaysia Cooper took her off the dribble with ease and thatā€™s why she was fouling or got burned.
Itā€™s just funny how some of you see any decent opponent do anything and act like itā€™s the greatness thing ever.
Her team got beat. Simple as that. I could say if Tennessee staff made certain decisions or certain players played more minutes for whatever reason we win by 23 and not 13.
Itā€™s clear you are trying to make it about this player once coming to Tennesssee for a visit.
Tennessee portal class of four gifted athletes compared to this player as a group and individually is no comparison.
Give it a rest.
Ruby Whitehorn, Talaysia Cooper, Alyssa Latham, or Lazaria Spearman each could average 10-15 points and 5-10 rebs in Auburn or Texas A&M playing 30 minutes per game.
Doesnā€™t matter. A win is a win and a loss is a loss.

You use the phrase "casual fans" regularly, and with a distinct tone of condescension. Do you fancy yourself being somehow above the masses here, looking down on everyone else from where you make your most educated, most expert, least "casual" proclamations?

One might say you have unique form of "casual narcissism." With some "not-so-casual control issues."

There are moments of lucidity. Rare, but moments.

Pretty sure itā€™s the H2S from the sewer known as Twitter

100 percent correct that everyone can have their own opinions! And I trust Coach Kim's more than anyone's on any matters with this team. I will totally own that I was super skeptical of her hire but I am now loving it. I don't think this team will run the table and they will probably have a couple ugly losses when this season is said and done, but what I now have 100 percent faith in is that we have a coach that will know what she is looking at, know how to fix and improve it, and have the moxy to make it happen. I'm loving it and her opinion is what I'm leaning into.

Here we go. I welcome this level of stupidity because post after post when posters and I share the same thoughts the ones such as you and others (casual fans) always scroll by. I guess it bothers narcissists that other people including myself donā€™t post the way they do. But when you canā€™t help yourself and disagree even when many others support those thoughts thatā€™s when the baiting, constant bickering, and trying to force an argument occurs.
The moment you realize I couldnā€™t care less the better.
You and the few others are quoting my post time and time again to force your reasoning simply because you have a different perspective on a message board.
Sounds narcissistic to me.

I get it completely. I wouldnā€™t say this team will take ugly losses without anything to back my beliefs that it will surely happen.
Thereā€™s no harm in you feeling one way or the other. Itā€™s common to agree to disagree.
The Texas A&M player didnā€™t kill Tennessee. Every moment counts in a game, you canā€™t erase bits and pieces to sway it in one team or playerā€™s favor thatā€™s my point.
The player did have some moments yet again they had equal players on the opposing side that had their moments as well.
I wish both teams success moving forward.

There is always an element of coach speak in these press conferences. I don't think that CKC really believed that they would have lost the game if Coulibaly had not been in 1st half foul trouble but it is a motivating/ teaching moment.

"Hey, don't pat yourself on the back here, we need to defend much better..."

Yes itā€™s pretty funny for a poster who just showed up this season. Calling others who have been here for literal decades ā€œcasual fans.ā€ šŸ¤£

I agree. Itā€™s about setting a standard.

Exactly. He is probably around 22 years old and has been following the Lady Vols for about 4 years. šŸ˜‚ Many of us have, like you said, been around for decades. Iā€™ve been a follower since the late 70s.

Bought my milk and bread today for the blizzard coming this weekend.

Got to stay prepared!
As for this elite Rocky Top basketball weekend, the Vols vs Razorbacks men game right now is as physical as they come!
Tomorrow is Part II. The Lady Vols vs Sooners is going to be a battle. Coach Kim team plays with speed and an aggressive style that has completely overwhelmed tourney teams!
GBO!

Casual fans? I've been around since Dena Head and Regina Clark signed at Tennessee, have missed a very small handful of games live since 2010 and been on this board a lot longer than July of this year such as your self. I and many of us believe you to be the casual and obnoxious fan that doesn't shut up and has an overheightened opinion of one's own point of view moreso than that of the head coach coaching these players. Anyhow, Moving on...
