Game Thread Lady Vols vs Texas

The problem I see with the modern LV basketball program is that the players are more worried about looking good (hair, nails, etc) than being tough and playing hard. It's almost like they're trying too hard to fight the mindset that girl basketball players are manly or not feminine. You don't see that kind of attitude with UCONN players. In fact, Mosqueda-Lewis is quoted on ESPN talking about this specifically, stating that she doesn't care about looking a certain way and all that matters is how she plays ball.

These Lady Vol basketball players, and I think it dates back about 5 years, couldn't hang with Shemeka Randall, Tamika Catchings, Holdsclaw, etc. Those girls weren't worried about hair and makeup. UCONN is getting all those girls and UT gets the soft ones who are more worried about Instagram and Facebook selfies.

When you add in that Warlick is meant to be an assistant coach, who are better at being friends with players than being hard on them, the entire culture is now different. The Lady Vols have gone soft. That's the bottom line.

Well said.

Well Holly defenders what do you think? Do you think we played good defense or offense? Do you think we are a top ten team? Did Holly show that she is finally a top 10 coach? Did we see anything that would make everyone excited enough to purchase final four tickets? Did you see anything to complain about? Did you spot a go to player who is larger than life, aka Candance Parker,? We need help somewhere. I don't care what you say, this will not do nor will it improve recruiting. You think Diamond D is saying, "What have I done?"

So they can't just fire Hart?

Warlick needs to go. Hart is getting our AD on track. Summit basically told the AD that Warlick needed to take the reigns if she was going to step down. Warlick needs to go and they need to hire someone who can recruit tougher players, not necessarily better players. Warlick has All Americans up and down the bench, but they're all soft and more worried about their looks than playing defense.

Carter doesn't have a pretty shot. But, this game she played to her strength which is driving the ball.

She got several offensive put backs to and a lot of defensive rebounds. She is not the problem.

She has defensive intensity and plays hard. She is a scrapper. She is not the problem.

She's part of the problem when she dribbles around like a headless chicken for 39 minutes, then attacks the basket nonstop in the last minute once the game is out of reach. She hurts the offensive flow and should be a 10-15 minutes/game player.
