Game Thread Lady Vols vs Vanderbilt

So, everyone is happy right? We avenged one of our 4 losses by 28 points and with one of our star players out with injury. Oh, btw, remember people who said Simmons shouldn't even be playing? Hehe. :)

Everyone was rightfully upset with Simmons for not playing within the offense. She was disrupting the flow of the offense. The problem might have been not having a good point guard. Massengale is a good player but I wouldn't classify her as a good point guard. The two freshmen Carter and Reynolds are outstanding. And, they have appeared to settle Simmons and get her into the flow of the offense. That is the most plausible explanation since her good play has coincided with the two freshman playing point.

i don't know gule, they have beaten A&M ,the Bammers and Vandy plus Arkie and Ole Miss since then, she went out in the Fla game, that is a pretty good stretch of games,of course it is all due to volfans pic of CHW,that is the good luck charm that has been needed

I really hate to say this know people want like it but I think Carter runs the team better than Massengale. Massengale is a great player but Carter just make people do the right thing. Even Jones is playing some better and I'm sure that has been difficult to achieve.

Having said this I will be very glad to get Massengale back hopefully she will see what Carter has done and take that approach to games.

Man to man from here on out. Makes each player responsible. Like Simmons said in her interview, "playing man to man made the game fun."

Win or lose, I just want to see them out there on the floor giving it all they got. That's what Lady Vol basketball is all about.

Carter is definitely a special player. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but she jumps so high. I don't think I'm exaggerating to say she has the best vertical leap of any player we've ever had. Because of her height, she obviously doesn't get her hands up as high as Candace Parker or Michelle Snow did, but if we're talking just inches off the ground, I'd bet she's #1.

That aside, she is VERY quick which comes in handy on D and for driving to the basket on O. She's a pure shooter. She runs the offense well. For the last 4 years, I used to tell my wife that "Taber Spani was money" because she made so many shots and during the Vanderbilt game, I told her "Carter is the new Spani - she's money".
