Game Thread Lady Vols vs Vanderbilt

Vandy will beat the crap out of us in Nashville. 58 points all we could muster thankfully Vandy is terrible shooters tonight want shoot like that in Nashville at the mausoleum.

I remember earlier in the year when Kentucky was losing all those players and we were giving their coach a bunch of crap and how we were going to destroy them this year. My how things have changed.

I hate to be the one to cast a negative cloud on a win because a win any day is much better than a loss but that game wasn't pretty. I left to take a call and was gone for a few minutes and TN blew a decent lead and struggled in the end!! What happened?? I have been watching the Lady Vols for over 30 years (back when LA Tech, Virginia and Texas were the UCONN's and Notre Dame's of the day) and this team is just awful! One day they are up, one day they are down. Mostly down. So disappointed.

Cooper saved our bacon tonight. She picked the perfect game to get hot. It's tempting to say that Vandy beat themselves with turnovers (especially at the end when they had a chance to tie/take the lead), but considering how close they've played us in past years, this was not a "bad" win even if it was ugly for both teams.

Seeing KY & Miss. St. go down can be seen as encouraging for the next two games, as a sign of SEC parity, or as a sign of SEC weakness.

To put things in perspective, Kellie Harper's Mizzou St. team beat Arky by 15 & also beat Ole Miss...both at their places, of course. Either Kellie is doing a heck of a job with less, AK & Ole Miss have vastly improved, or several SEC teams are overrated.

Still nice to see the team not fold, dial up the pressure when needed (although some silly fouls with Vandy in the bonus), and maybe gain some confidence in cutting down turnovers, moving w/out the ball, and finding higher % shots. Not an overwhelming win but could be the catalyst to carry them into next two games combined with their next two opponents' results tonight.

did DD equal out on turnovers to assists and points? I think she was double digits on TO's.

Congrats on the blue haired fans for showing up at the game. Tennessee lead the attendance race by a large margin last night.

This was a good win for the girls...they definitely out talented this Vandy team. Now we get down to business!

Scoring 58 points on 41% shooting might be good enough to beat an unranked cupcake like Vanderbilt, but it won't be enough to beat UConn, Notre Dame, Ohio State, or Maryland. Fortunately a lot of SEC teams struggle to put the ball in the basket even more than Tennessee. At the half last night, Georgia led Mississippi State 17-14.

Diamond continued to take the most shots on the team, even though she only shot 33%. I guess she wants to make sure she gets hers, even if her shooting percentage is worse than the team's as a whole.

Has Jackson played a single minute since second semester classes began? Is something going on with her?

We did have a poor shooting night but it was good to see cooper hit shots and Jordan actually hit a shot. But jackson and dunbar do not PLAY ON LICK OF DEFENSE> I REMEMBER WATCHING DUNBAR RUN AWAY FROM A REBOUND . i DONT CARE HOW GOOD SHE SHOOT IF SHE COMES DOWN AND GET SCORED ON HER THREE MEANS NOTHING AS FOR JACKSON SHE NOT MAKING SHOT AND SHE LOOKS LOST ON DEFENSE AGAINST OREGON STATE SHE TURNED THE BALL OVER BACK TO BACK BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T WANT THE BALL

South carolina can be beat as well, They have issues with scoring for stretches, the problem is everyone else has a problem scoring , but mark it down miss state will beat them at home =. At home they average 76 points a game and south carolina will not zone them
