Quite a bit of both.

Some players not delivering, and Holly too unaware to make an adjustment.

Tennessee's three guards combined for more turnovers than points. And that's a typical performance for them.

Both some players(Carter/Reynolds) have not grown since they were freshmen. Having them on the court for too long is goin to lead to a loss. Middleton is a smarter player than these two. Cooper/Jackson should get their minutes and be allowed to play their freshman mistakes

I thought I was disappointed after the Texas game but this game really drove the point home - a DOUBLE DIGIT loss to an unranked team at HOME.

17 turnovers? Check.
Allow the other team to shoot 47% from 3 point range? Check.
Miss a TON of layups? Check.
Have no offensive flow? Check.
Let referees screw us (phantom foul on Carter wthat was clean block) without so much of a word from the coach? Check.
WE shoot 1 for 19 - 5% (not 15%, not 25% but 5%!) from 3? Check.
Half our team out with injuries? Check.

I am NOT optimisitic about our future because there is ZERO evidence that anything will change as it's been this way or WORSE for the past 5 years.

If this was a man coaching a storied program, he would be under pressure to show improvement or move on. If the football or basket ball coaches failed to recruit one single person and started off this way with this type of talent, but have trouble winning against bottom feeders and teams they were suppose to beat, they would be under immense pressure. The board, AD and President would want that coaches' head on a platter. They would have no problem buying out their contract and hiring another coach.

I expect we will be 7 and 4 after the three game road trip. I can see possibly losing 10 this season. The team is a total wreck offensively. Some of the players can't even hit the rim.

Here is the problem there are a lot of freshman points in the country on top 25 teams that Cooper was ranked ahead that get the job done with limited turnovers and can shoot the rock.

no recruits this year, no vision, no plan for the future?

I'd can her ass after this upcoming road trip if they lose more than once. Call this year a waste and bring in a real coach, man or woman who has a clue how offense is supposed to flow in bball.

What an epic fail,to be battered in your own gym by an unranked team. Coaching and players alike are responsible. When players can't shoot a lick,it's on them for not practicing their shots. However,when you have players who won't or can't shoot and they still play a lot of minutes,then it's on coaching. This was a full roster failure today from coaching right on down. There is no rationale for going to a zone defense when your opponent is already shooting you out of the gym. Defense is about effort and movement and the Lady Vols have neither at this point. Pre game,everyone knew that VT was a perimeter oriented team,yet they were let free on the arc as we covered the middle of the lane. With all the hubbub about Holly sending the team a message by not speaking to them,I really think she has lost this team. Not speaking to the team is an infantile reaction,though others have done it. Playing short handed today was not good,but the lack of effort and lackluster performance was even worse.

The way we have been beating teams like this is that we flail around and then turn up the defense and beat them with our depth and athleticism at the end. We couldn't do that today because we just had 7 players. VT shoots well from 3 and we never bother to guard the three because it is our philosophy to be in position for the rebound and to provide help. It is easy to get an open look at a three against us.

So you could see this coming just Like Peck said before the game. More and more teams are exploiting us and it is only our depth and talent that have kept our record as good as it is. Our kids get put in a position to lose and have to make up for it with effort. It shouldn't be this way.

This is an absolute fact. This is Lady Vols basketball who pioneered women basketball to what is is today.For UT decision makers to let this program fall from basketball grace is a travesty in itself.

I've been saying it for weeks. This is a 10 loss team.

VT - L

Projected Losses
Oregon State
Stanford
Notre Dame
South Carolina
Texas AM
Kentucky
Georgia
and at least one other unexpected loss

Will be a 4/5 seed in the tourney and lose the 2nd round.

What's you guys predictions?

I'm slowly finding myself every game saying, "No Te'a No Te'a, Dammit Te'a". It wasn't just her, but as our starting point guard she has to get under control too many times it's always her versus three defenders. Or her getting stuck driving into the lane and trying to throw it to two double covered posts. It's the same mess over and over:

*the guard play is non-existent
* no ball movement
* too much dribbling
* forcing the ball inside
* shots won't fall
* horrible defense
* not getting Bash enough touches
* inept offensive play calling
* and dumb fouling

Truly sad how far this storied program has fallen.Does not appear that there is a solution at this point in this season with this coaching staff.The players play uninspired in a half court offense...they do not shoot well or rebound either .when they press they are able to generate offense when they do not throw the ball up in the stands.They are a disoriented,disorganized,discombobulated mess of a group of All americans on the planet.This is not a Top 25 program right now with little hope of improvement with the coaching and leadership displayed to date.Good luck to them because they will need all the luck that can be generated just to be invited to NCAA tourney this year.

People (conveniently) forget that we weren't very good under PS for the last several years of her run. She was clueless about offensive basketball, too. We were in a lot of final fours with her, and in many of them we were the worst shooting/assist team of the four. This was before the three-point era, too: A lot of teams are good at making threes, which compounds our problem as we have to be the worst shooting major program in the country.

I can understand the frustration and I share almost all of it, but some of what's being written here is silly. Pat turn her back on Holly, a lifelong friend and assistant coach for decades? Or slap her? Resign immediately today? Players are suddenly garbage? Take a step back and take a breath here. No one's going to pretend like today was a good day, but some of this is just silly. They'll either fix it or they won't (and I have no idea how much Dave Hart cares about it, if at all), but running people into the mud doesn't do much other than make us look like vicious impatient "fans," and that ain't going to help anyone. I know, I know, no one cares, but still -- it's silly. Take a break. Book your tickets to Tampa for the Outback bowl. Or something. Let it play out.

I love Pat as much as anyone else on Volnation. I question the administration for letting Pat make the decision about Holly being the head coach. Not many programs of this caliber would have allowed that to happen.
