Game Thread: Memphis v Lady Vols, Wed Dec 18th ; Away game; 8:30 PM Eastern; ESPNews: win 90-75

My contest is closest to total points with a closest to score tie-breaker
but I have no problem with another variety of winner,,,no problem ;o)
Most of us projected Tennessee scoring to many points and Memphis State not enough. The total was 165 and I had 167 but 100 of that was Tennessee. JSC had exactly 90 what Tennessee scored and 71 for Memphis so that is closest to the actual score.

But trainers can do a manual ACL test. it is not foolproof but pretty accurate. I would say the odds of them letting her back on the court with a possible ACL injury would be very low.

The way she was dragging her leg looked more like a thigh contusion, which is no joke .
Looks like she ran into something trying to stop a shot and it looked upper leg like you say. Could be worse today than yesterday with a lot of soreness. I hope she can pay, but I don't see a knee problem.

The girls stood tall as a team and when the breaks were going against them and their shots were not falling, they just fought harder ....Number 7 picked her injured body off the hardwood court and said she wasn't done yet....A lot to like here guys, a lot to like.

I am sure they have her in round the clock therapy. But if it is a contusion those can get worse the next day as the bruising settles and the muscle has its inflammatory reactions. I remember back in the day, Glory Johnson missed a couple of weeks with a bad thigh contusion.

Hopefully, this one is less severe. She is one they need to have available.

No biggie either way. I was just doing it for fun and was glad I got so close to the actual score.

Besides that, I'm actually a pro; I've been a sports journalist off and on for 31 years. If I can't guess the relative strength of two teams decently, shame on me.

I thought the same thing for myself,,,and then missed bunnies and putbacks squashed my chances

But as you say, it is for fun,,,until I can find a sponsor for a real prize
until then winners get on the winner's page

Game was nearly over. Vicki was doing mop up duty.
Baugh, a 6-4 rookie from Sacramento, Cal., made some key plays in the NCAA title game versus Stanford. With a little more than seven minutes to play, Baugh's slashing-through-the-key lay-up gave the Lady Vols a double-digit lead (55-44) that they would not relinquish down the stretch en route to NCAA Championship number eight. As a freshman, Vicki played a significant role for our basketball team," said Tennessee coach Pat Summitt. "Some of her key contributions came in the six games during our national championship run and in the SEC title game - things were really starting to come together for her and it's just so unfortunate that she suffered a torn ACL.

That info is from the Lady vols website. The game was not over at that point and VB was doing much more that mop up duty.

Well, I was there and I know the game wasn’t in doubt at the point she got hurt. No, we didn’t have an insurmountable lead but we had it under control.

My memory is fuzzy but I thought Vicki was helped off the court. I just remember the shot of Niki A. crying-- she knew it was bad.
Keyan green basically got up and walked off at Geargia after doing her second ACL. She knew almost immediately. Gosh, that injury changed the season dramatically. We don't need anymore of them...

It seems to me that had we hit at least half of our layups, it would have been a +25 point win and we would have broke the century mark once again. I don’t believe it unusual that a team that shoots long range as a big part of their offense would struggle in an early season road game.

That was just a weirdly ugly game. Defenders making so many middle school errors! I will be amazed if we get out of Richmond with a win. Too much to correct and not enough time. Plus, we looked tired!
Richmond gave Texas a ball game, if we make a bunch of mistakes, don’t guard the paint well, don’t cover the 3 well and continue to miss easy shots at the rim this could be an upset. I have faith that CKC will have them ready. I see the Memphis game as an off night but we managed to come out with a win.
