Game Thread: Tennessee (15-8, 8-3 SEC) versus No. 1 South Carolina (23-0, 10-0) @ Food City Center, 2/15, 7:00 PM (EST), ESPN

I think a point that is missing in this conversation is that Tennessee actually just had some bad luck in the 2nd half. In the 1st half, they were missing shots because of rushing and trying to gain the advantage. I think that kept them from building a more comfortable lead than the 3pt margin at halftime.

In the 2nd half watching the replay is when the bad luck hit. I saw about 4-5shots including threes from Karo, Spear, and Powell that rim out. All three good looks and in rhythm. In the 4th, Rickea had a jumper rim out.

Those shots with Tennessee leading or tied and if they dropped even half of them it would’ve changed the outcome.
I know someone playing expert will say SC missed opportunities too and yeah sure they did.

Point is, the LVs when they make shots can beat any team.

When they make shots and play defense they can be a contender.

Hopefully tomorrow is the start of them playing good defense and offense consistently… with luck!

Thought Karo did a good job setting screens and then rolling to open area. Unfortunately, missed the shot that her move created.

Another time, she was wide open at the top of the key just beyond the three-point line, where she has been very effective her whole career, and the ballhandler just forced up a shot. Similar to Puckett being ignored several times despite having a hot hand.

Imo, that situation needs to be addressed immediately.
Karo averages 9 minutes or less since those games. 5 rebounds and 3 points and valuable screens, wide open several times in the post but it seems to be more accepted for the guards to throw up crazy shots or out of control drives hoping to draw a foul. Our guards rarely go to the post regardless of who is there. For the most part 2 or less passes per offensive set. That is not level team ball, more like playground ball. Sometimes I think our wins are in spite of Kellie.

Simply,,,did this 4 star player get better,,,,NO
Did she get valued,,,NO
If she stays I will be stunned
Agreed , she has regressed this year but showed her true skill before the SC game . Only 14 minutes against sc. I can easily see her wanting to get out of this coaching administration

I'm close friends with a former head coach who now works security at UT home games & events. Said that Karoline worked her butt off down low.

One of the biggest disappointments of the loss was the opportunity to break SC's SEC win streak at 41 and preserve our record. Would have been fitting for us to be the ones.

Kellie has stated hardest working player on the team yet she only gives her 10 minutes a game even though she is productive when she plays. Some players with twice the minutes or more not as productive.
