Game Thread-Tennessee Lady Vols (12-7, 5-2 SEC) @ Georgia Lady Bulldogs (10-10, 1-6 SEC) 2-1-2024, 7:00 PM (EST)

Really encouraged by the progress of Spear and Key .Key played a lot of minutes tonite and hopefully her stamina is increasing because they need her in every minute that she can play .You saw the difference tonite in this game on both ends of the court. The triumvirate of Jackson,Spear and Key can be a winner if the team will play thru them on the offensive end .
Going to have two glasses of mighty fine wine to toast the win.

Ditto.

How dang cool would it be if this team were to peak at exactly the right time. You're right on about the triumvirate. My goodness, if they continue to steadily build on what they did tonight, they could make some opponents pretty nervous down the stretch.

Baby steps. Yes, beating UGA was a baby step given their season so far, but they hd enough going for them that Tennessee had to keep pushing -- and that was helpful.

Really, if everyone rewatches the game with an eye on defense only, they'll see that for most of the game the Lady Vols were very active on defense... moving their feet, jumping screens, staying low, generally doing a good job of getting hands up. Georgia just shot better against fairly tight defense than they'd shot it any other game I'd seen them this season.

I don't know if everyone heard it, but apparently Stegman had a LOT of UGA women's basketball royalty in the house tonight -- past legendary coaches and players -- and so they were highly motivated to win that game. Kinda makes our solid win all the more encouraging.

Announcer tonight said it best on tournament. After we play out schedule we will have 2nd toughest and the committee will reward this team. I guarantee you they have them already several seeds higher than Creme. In CHRIST Alone
I'd expect us to move up a bit in the NET, even though Georgia is only a Q2 win, since we won by 22. Not sure how NET would've projected it, but Massey and Her Hoops Stats only had us as winning by 4 or 6.

Powell just plays better and better! Man I wish she had come here originally!
She was okay last year but really great this year.
I have said this before but we need to remember portal players take more than a minute to gel with a new program and our staff again has helped a player really improve. Proud of Powell and the coaches!

Watching Arky they sure shoot it from everywhere. Very undisciplined. We will need to play good man D without helping off much make them make tough 2's . They also are not good on D again undisciplined. In CHRIST Alone

Kaiya needs to play more minutes. She really brings exceptional athleticism and her offense and defense have made huge jumps. She with Rikea, Spear, Powell and Key can give a lot of teams a lot of trouble. I understand that is not a lineup but wonder how that would play?

Would love to see it.

I really think this is the lineup we should be seeing the most.

Powell PG, Spear SG, Wynn SF/G, Jackson SF, Key C.

That was fun and I don't give a damn how bad Georgia is. That offense is how we will win games. Spacing and movement was so good, so many assisted buckets! Lots of options to score. Jewel and Rickea help each other so much and now that Jewel is on fire it really helps take pressure off RJ. Every time GA seemed like they could make a run, one of those two made a big play. Love the combo.

Great game for TK, also JP. Both a tough games at Ole Miss so good to see those bounce backs. JP with 9 assists! Really everyone played well, Sara had a quietly good game.

I thought the subs got handled well, esp for TK. Starting her was different but they managed her mins well, esp in an up and down game. For once I really enjoyed watching a game. Onward and upward.

Wynn just gives us so much for forward energy toward the rim. Love her downhill play. She’s productive every time she’s on the floor. Really impressed with how much she has improved her finishing ability, passing and FTs, all around most improved on the team.
