I am responding to the claims that Coop was being lazy in today's game. In this game, I did not see much of the problem you describe. Her only "lazy" that I see is more bad habit/mentality. She does not strain thru a defensive possession. She is very max initial effort to cause a steal. Then if she is out of position she just reaches and stabs at the ball. If she was determined to say this girl will not beat me off the dribble then she could be great.
Not only out of position but heightened risk of injury.I am responding to the claims that Coop was being lazy in today's game. In this game, I did not see much of the problem you describe.
To the general charge, I think some people confuse "effort" with playing like an undisciplined 12 year old, who chases the ball with reckless abandon and goes crashing in to the paint for every rebound or a come from behind defensive play.
At this level, doing that more often than not gets a team out of position so they are vulnerable to transition plays. In fact early in the season, the LVs were crashing and chasing which led to unnecessary fouls and getting beat on transition.
Sometimes if you get beat by a player, the best play is to let another defender switch over and be ready to guard on the perimeter.
On another note, very impressed by the progression that Spearman is showing as the season moves along.
Tulsa gets boat raced and the Lady Volunteers have a nice holiday tournament.
Do you watch Women’s basketball or just the lady Vols???I don’t know why you think it’s funny… you or anyone else attempting to discredit Coop play in anyway is being ridiculous. She has some of the most explosive highlights of any player in WBB this season. The blocks, assists, steals, a two way versatile player that makes big time baskets in the mid-range, attacking the basket, and shooting the three ball.
And has the clutch gene.
All in just over 20 minutes per game.
You don’t know how bad it sounds when you think you can discredit Coop then turn around and say something as ridiculous as this team needs to add a freshman from a team that can barely score 50 points in a game.

They started off looking like a team playing its third game in about 63 hours, but something kicked in about a minute into the second quarter, and Tulsa got its reality check.I got the feeling at the beginning of the Tulsa game that their coach kinda felt like her team could pull off the upset. Something about her projected as smug and maybe even slightly arrogant.
Then we smacked the living sh!t out of them. That was great.
IMO in alot of ways the whole team is learning to play at this fierce intensity and effort level but also consistently stay in control. They're learning to control that high horsepower engine while driving in the neighborhood instead of on the autobonn. Coop is a good example of that when she tries for a steal then has to power it down to normal D.I am responding to the claims that Coop was being lazy in today's game. Especially that Coop is literally doing the most of any if our players until she hits the relax button. She is anticipating everything on offense and defense, often in a leadership role.IMO in alot of ways the whole team is learning to play at this fierce intensity and effort level but also consistently stay in control. Also remember how young and new Coop is. She played almost no meaningful minutes at SC and not at all last year. She's really only a handful of games into her career and in a system brand new to her. Given that, she's WAY ahead of schedule, All SEC level.
Calling any player willing to play in this system lazy is just embarrasingly silly ass fanspeak IMO.
It's a matter of learning when and how to hit the relax, or gear dow,n button. Consistency is a learning process, esp at this high level. I don't think it's ever that she's intentionally lazy or lacks effort. That's just dumb.Especially that Coop is literally doing the most of any if our players until she hits the relax button. She gets frustrated, hangs her head, and then takes plays off. It is not being lazy. She has the highest motor out there.
