In college, every player is just as athletic as Hopson. He's not a complete freak like he was in high school. He actually has to learn the finer points of the game, and how to play defense, and not just basing it on his athleticism.

Sure some players come in and don't have to adjust much, but very few players can do that. Most players have to get used to playing against much better players learning the game in more depth.

Wrong. Very few, even at the college level, had the athleticism to be lazy slugs throughout their careers. Coaches that allowed it need to find new occupations.
