This reminds me of a trip I made to a local amusement park recently, and saw hordes of people wearing "We are Virginia Tech" T-shirts. First thought in my mind was, "So?".

ESPN's agenda is so transparent. The sob story, emo angle is getting so annoying and it takes away from the game. But the worst may be yet to come when it's the VT massacre story line vs. LSU Katrina victims. Maybe ESPN should start marketing gameday hankies for the tenderhearted fan.

It's on just about every car or store window around here. I keep waiting on the "We are Mike Vick" shirts to come out. :)

What if it happenned at UT? We would all need hankies on game one when ESPN does its little outside the lines piece. :cray:

jeez...relax people. like it or not, VT and what happened is a story line, and given VT's relevence in the ACC, it can be considered relevant to college football....

afterall, it is just a game and something like this can help put things in perspective.

and i'll admit, when i first heard this story break a copule of months ago about gameday going to bburg, my first reaction was basically the same as many of yours.

but after some recollection, what's the harm? you have something like that happen in your community and this may give some folks some sort of "relief" from the reality of the situaiton.

i have just come around to the notion that this simply is not that big of a deal.

and VIA is correct, the ratings boost won't be anything worth mentioning......and if you listended to Kirk Hirbstreit last night talk about this very topic, the sentiment about the "greedy ratings whore" that ESPN has been perceived to be regarding this was quelled by his response, which i took to be a genuine one.

and at the end of the day....if you want to send your messsage to ESPN......don't frickin' watch it and get over it.

and for the last time, there is on conspiracy theory by ESPN to ruin the University of Tennessee's football program.........:banghead2:

I did see it and I have to disagree with you on that. Having said that, I don't care where gameday is as long as it's time for football to start back up.
