What's everyone's favorite Garth Brooks song? I've got 3:

Whatcha gonna do with a cowboy

Rodeo

Good Ride Cowboy

#54
#54
Much Too Young
Friends in Low Places
Allison Miranda
Rodeo

and many more

I can't stand that Friends in Low Places song.

I didn't know GB refused to sell his music digitally. Apparently he his trying to sell it solo now without iTunes or Amazon. Quite the ego.

He explained it in an interview a while back and while I don't agree with him 100% he does have a point. His problem is with the fact that the digital media sellers allow purchase of single tracks, and people are able to get 1-2 songs from an album and never hear the rest. He feels that this will cause everything but the 1-3 biggest songs to just fade away and be forgotten. I think he is right, some of my favorite songs are the obscure ones that you never hear about. If they weren't included on the cds in the box set I'd never heard them and fell in love with them. The problem is if he completely ignores digital then he runs the risk of being completely left behind himself.

As for my list:
Beaches of Cheyenne
Cowboy Bill
Lonesome Dove
Belleau Wood

That's an interesting opinion but it's not all too different than when singles were sold on 45s. My grandparents had a record collection that was practically nothing but 45s. I doubt they were alone.

In this day and age the average consumer is not going to buy a whole album for $10-$15 unless they are already familiar with your music. Moat modern music is forgettable. The classic material will rise to the top and hang around though.

And the other thing is he was the biggest music act in the world in his prime. This is like the Beatles coming back. By fighting iTunes he's not just doing it for himself. No one else would pay attention if it were someone else.

I get what you are saying, but I think it wasn't as much as a problem then as now. I'll admit I missed the record era just barley, they were fizzileing out as I grew up. So I don't know the price difference, but I seem to remember with cds (I ain't bought one in 11-12 years, in fact last one was 7's) that the whole cd was $10-12 but singles were $3-5. By time you bought 2 singles you could have almost bought a album so most people went that route. Now days digital singles are ~$1 (right? It's been a while) so it is more feasible to pick and choose.

Cowboy Bill. What a great song. I almost always prefer songs that are never released as singles so I totally understand what Garth is doing and have no issues with it. It's his music. He can release it to the masses how he pleases

I'm the same way, don't get me wrong I like the hits, but there is something about some of those other songs that just hit me. Listening to some of them like Cowboy Bill, lonesome dove, or Ireland just seem to transport you there. I can hear the songs and just immediately have mental image of the story. Maybe I'm nuts but I feel like I'm there watching those unfold.
