If you were Anderson's son and in his position and Barry Alvarez called you hot, wanting an explanation, what would your answer be? No matter what I knew, I would say, "I don't know."

could be..and it could be Alvarez's way of trying to make Anderson look bad as he walks out the door

You know what this means...

There will be a new show called the "housewives of the big ten". No greater drama at this point in football than in the big ten.

If I were Alvarez, I would want people to believe he left for family reasons.

It's probably better than the real reason

It goes without say that Andersen was pissed and wanted the hell out.

I looked to see if recruiting pressures were an issue but he was out recruiting Bielema. He made progress on record too. Had to either be Alvarez is an ass or personality fit.

2015 - 28
2014 - 33 (full cycle)
2013 - 57 (Andersen short cycle)
2012 - 57
2011 - 40

Record
2014 - 10-3
2013 - 9-4
2012 - 8-5
2011 - 11-3☆with Russel Wilson

Fair or not this is going to make any potential hire very nervous

Especially if you look at the "success" both previous coaches had. Check out the stats I posted. Wisconsin is worse off without Andersen than he is without them.

With a bowl win they could have been 11-3 in just his second season so something smells rotten in Denmark.

How pissed must you be if you leave a job in the middle of the night and your son is on the team? That's like kill a tree pissed.

Whatever triggered it was clearly the icing on the cake and leaving abruptly was to make a statement. Doesn't matter how Alvarez spins the story everybody already knows.

Anderson and OSU owe Wisc. 3 million

Wisconsin: Some names to keep an eye on include Pitt head coach Paul Chryst, Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi, Ohio State offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Tom Herman and Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. USA Today reports Andersen owes $3 million as part of his buyout. Athletic director Barry Alvarez says he is considering coaching the bowl game, as he did two years ago

Leave it to Barry to insert himself into a bowl game when plenty of assitants could handle it. Maybe he should reannoint himself coach.

It's so odd. It makes me wonder if he is just a pain in the ass to football coaches because he was a good one.

That was one reason the other was he felt the academic rules were too strict. He had to fight several times with the academic department to get players admitted.

this. That's exactly what I heard from another Wisc fan and resident. Said he got po'd the administration wouldn't budge on it

In fairness, apparently the seniors asked him to coach the bowl game. He did two years ago in the Rose Bowl and it wasn't that big of an issue.

Thats two coaches in a row Wisconsin has lost to programs they shouldn't be losing coaches to. Maybe they don't like the cold.

Nc State should be very worried. Dave Doeren is a Whisky guy. I wouldn't be surprised if that's where it goes.

Have to wonder if Barry Alvarez is a micro-manager. For two coaches to bolt like that is just strange. Might be extremely difficult working under "The Man Who Built Wisconsin Football", particularly if he's not willing to let go.

At least with Bielema, there was the excuse of more money for assistants. Andersen's "I want to be closer to family" story doesn't sound legit. Corvallis is still over 800 miles away from Utah. Is there really much of a difference between flying 850 miles and flying 1350 miles?

Surprised. I know some UW fans who weren't too happy w him. But I doubt a few disgruntled fans made him leave

The playoff conspiracy theorists are likely drooling over this randomness.
