And Pearl's even more of an idiot about this if he allowed himself to be photographed with a junior recruit...at his house.

At least Bruce has gotten in the minds of other coaches. Thad Matta would have never turned in Buzz for the same offense.

Gary has a local radio show here in Memphis and he pretty much said that he doesn't think Bruce will be the coach at UT much longer if he had to guess.

Colts and Yankees fans can go ahead and jump off the bandwagon.

Newsflash... You don't need the best player or highest payroll to be successful.

Trent Dilfer/Brad Johnson have won Super Bowls and the Marlins have won World Series.

Barring a post season ban, calm down. Bruce Pearl took UW Milwaukee to their first NIT/NCAA tournament. That includes the Sweet 16.

Life went on without Ramar Smith/Duke Crews and the team rolled to the Elite 8 without leading scorer Tyler Smith.

Just calm down. **** me.

Gary Parrish also thinks Coach Cal is the greatest coach ever and half his article are about Memphis/Kentucky.

If the school replaces Pearl, UT basketball(Men's) is most likely done.

Gary was also saying how it was somewhat ironic that this all came to light. Tennessee claims something fishy went on when Selby decommitted and with the NCAA investigating Selby, they had to talk to Craft as they visited Knoxville on the same weekend (when the pic was taken). When they talked to Craft and looked around there, that is when they found the picture.

Gary also said that he has heard the 3rdd recruit mentioned in the story was Trae Golden but he didn't have enough info to include the name in the article.

He also said the rest of the basketball team was over there as well.

Gary and Cal actually don't get along that well. Gary would be the first to tell you that.

Don't be an idiot.

Great insight.

Where was the program before Pearl?

Sorry, but Brad Steven's probably wouldn't even leave Butler for Tennessee.

Who exactly do you think they'd hire?

Bruce Pearl was a home run. If you think coaches like him are a dime a dozen, then maybe you're the idiot.

And?

I go to cbs sports daily and every other article from Parrish is about Kentucky or Memphis. It's always been that way from him.

The dude is obsessed with Memphis and Calipari.

i kinda have to agree with you. people think the AA is just going to sweep this under the rug but they are not going to. i really believe this goes much deeper than we think it does. i would not be stunned to see bruce leave. i would hate it but----  :ermm: :ermm:

Interesting for him to say that.
But, just from reading his piece, it sounds like Hamilton and Cheek were aware of this new info. It's new to us, but it sounds like they knew about this when they handled down the punishment/sanctions. If they were going to fire him, they probably would have done it last week.

It isn't about what Tennessee was before Pearl (which it did have some good periods, fyi), it's about it's ceiling after Pearl. UT has the facilities, fan base, one of the "big" conferences with high profile rivalries (Kentucky, Florida) and recent success. UT can afford to pay enough to find and pull a good coach.

Afterall, who the hell was Pearl before he came here?

We were a sleeping giant before him. We still have all the tools and toys for success even if he leaves.

Might be apples and oranges but the NCAA did suspend Dez Bryant for a year for lying to them.

Check out Tennessee's football facilities. Means nothing with poor coaches.

Prior to Tennessee, Bruce Pearl was the guy being blacklisted. He wont a division 2 championship. It didn't take him long to move up the ladder when he was finally given a chance. If he can take UWMilwaukee to a Sweet 16 and bring in top recruit after top recruit to Tennessee, it says a lot about him as a coach in my opinion.

Care to make a wager on whether Tennessee football remains in the doldrums?

Based on what time limit?

Every dog finds a bone eventually.

If we're talking about forever, that would be a stupid bet on my part.

He has mentioned he makes a conscious effort not to write too much about Memphis and/or Cal/UK but they have both had a lot to write about lately (good and bad). He doesn't want to deal with Cal unless he absolutely has to.

6 years. I think the vols will win 10 games within the next 6 years.

I think the basketvols will win an NCAA tournament game within 6 years of Pearl leaving.
