Gator Fans- don't act like you care about basketball

Plenty of laughs in here. Yes he took an NBA job only to back out 4 days later, i'm not really sure how that's a bad thing though.

One thing that is absolutely certain, he is going to end his career as a top 5 coach in the history of college basketball. Enjoy all the success you've been having though Vols (in all sports).

Dean Smith, John Wooden, Mike Krzyzewski, Bob Knight, Adolph Rupp

Which of those 5 are you taking off the list?

Absolutely not. Just because he parlayed one good class into two titles doesn't earn that distinction.

Wooden
Rupp
Smith
Knight
Coach K
Boehiem
Calhoun
Pitino
Izzo
Hall

10 reasons he is not.

That one thing you mentioned is far from certain, unless Donovan wins 3 more national titles.

lol why do people not like Billy D? I don't like Florida either but the guy won two national titles, has been a great recruiter and a pretty darn good X's and O's guy so you at least have to respect that. Shame on Florida fans for not supporting the coach or team but I'd still put Billy D in elite status and he'll more than likely hang a few more banners before he retires.

Oh we love Billy Donovan. UF is and always has been a football school...sorry UK fans. We just don't care as much as we should about being nationally relevant in basketball. No other way to spin it.

I expect attendance to go up when the conference schedule kicks in. When it does, and we beat UK, the argument will then turn to how great UK's hoops history is relative to Florida.

Yep...far be it for UK hoops fans not to have something to pound their collective chests over.

Take this thread for instance...

Lawrence, no chest pounding here, just calling out Florida fans to stop being cheap and support your basketball team...if you really care about the sport.

You can at least admit its a shame that you can't draw more than 5,000 fans to see su h a great team. Y'all can bag on UK football but if we were ever as good in football as you guys are (and have been) at bball, you couldn't get a ticket at Commonwealth.

That's just it...we don't care about basketball as much as football. How many times do I have to say it?

It's a shame to UK fans, but not me. I watch every UF hoops game on TV, and when you guys come to town I usually find a way to get tickets near the floor.

Also, I don't recall bagging on UK football here...UK football speaks for itself.

who the hell hangs around G'ville when the semester was over 2 weeks ago..not like UF was even playing a team worth making a drive from Orlando or Tampa.

Fan support in the state of Florida is just bad in general, they have always seemed particularly fair-weather. That statement is just not specific to college sports, the NFL and MLB attendance is especially pathetic.

Sounds like you're mixing Donovan up with Stallings. Donovan's had offers from big-time programs like UK.

He's had more Elite Eights in the past two seasons than your program has had in its entire history. Get over it.

It doesn't change the fact Tennessee owns Donovan.

Donovan is 16-17 all-time against UT. Your definition of the word "own" is more or less a coin flip. Brilliant.

If you consider that being "owned", what do you call losing 8 straight to a division rival in football?

True, especially south Florida...that deal with the Marlins is awful. Miami in general is awful, wasn't there a game this year where they (the U) drew <10K?
