Geez, one win against a semi-decent Pac10 team, and there's talks of running the schedule? Get real...please.
Fans of every decent team do that after a win. Just focus on what went right. Nothing wrong with that.

I prefer cautious optimism, focusing on what we will need to improve so our shot at running the schedule improves.

To each his own.

Cal's not a top 10, but they still may finish in the top 25. USC is going to embaress them most likely though.

Come talk to us after Florida has the balls to schedule a decent opener, let alone a top 10 team. It's been since the Galen Hall days since you guys played a decent opener. Til then....

ps I am not even considering running the table at this point, but that's just me.

Exactly. Fans from UT, GA, etc. want to jump in quickly with "Cal was overrated" but yet no matter how overrated they were they were WAY BETTER than the panzies they played. I mean how does an SEC school open its season versus a Div. 1-AA school? Seriously. Cal is not a Top 10 team, but they are a Top 25 team. They have some very good players. They just have some obvious weakness in the defensive backs and O-line and we exploited those. But, more than anything we were just a bigger, stronger, faster ("better") football team then them. Playing the way we played in that game with the quality of talent we have we were better than most teams in the country. Can we play like that the whole season though? Thats a good question....

I think we will with the present coaching staff.

We play FSU every year and have Miami scheduled in 2008 and 2010. They're not openers, but I'm not all too sure why it matters when we play them. Well, at least our warmup games don't turn into close calls, i.e. UAB last year.

Gators have just as many questions as the Vols this year and possibly a weaker O-Line. UT by 10.

Not meaning to discredit the Vols victory yesterday, because it was impressive, but you have to admit that Cal was pretty overrated.:unsure:

Season will tell. But right now:

CAL = Overrated
UT = Underrated. And as a note. A really good UT team made them look overrated. Beat them on the corners.

Other than than the conference opponents that's the only team you play every year that's ranked....You guys could barely score on UNRANKED Southern Miss in the 1st half....You can say what you want to about last year, last year was a bad year for UT football all together, sure some good come from it(David Cutcliffe),but your boys better be ready to play here in 2 weeks or you guys will be going back to Florida with your tail between your legs because the VOLS beat you

I suppose THE University of Southern Mississippi is a sleeper National Championship team now that they held the mighty Gators to a 27 points victory, right?

I care about as much about what a collective group of arrogant Gator fans (pardon the redundancy) think as I do a colonoscopy.

I didn't say anything about your schedule, just openers. It takes a lot of guts to play a top 10 team in the first game of the year. You still have a lot of questions on your team and you don't have any film on the team you are playing from the current year. If they have changed any of their coaches, teams can look a lot different from one year to the next. You guys always play a couple of warmup games first. It does matter when you play them.

In case you missed it, we sucked last year. Hackney and that UAB team was still better than any opener the Gators have had in the last 20 years.
