Tid, everyone the Gators play is a sleeper National Championship team, just ask them, they'll tell you

Funny you mention that. Before the season, my friend who is a gator talked about how Southern Miss and UCF are no cake-walk games. They could give us problems but more than likely won't.

Seems to me they are making excuses early.....just in case.

And of course they will always reference the 17-10 over UAB. Last year, what was our record again????

Yeah some cake-walk for the Gators....Couldn't hang more then 40 points on them.....UCF is a cake-walk for sure.....They have to schedule teams like that in the beginning otherwise no one will buy into that BS spread offense.....It's not going to work in Neyland this year....Air Force has a lot of option in their playbook and that's what alot of the spread option is based on.....Air Force will be perfect to use as practice at defending it

You guys think we will play this inspired all year? Are we really this good???

Can we run the schedule???
They definetly had a chip on their shoulder, but to me Cal looked like a very overrated team, I'm saving my judgement until the Gators come to town. I think Cal discovered what a true d-fense is all about.

These GOOBERS obviosuly think Spurrier is still coaching their beloved Gators....Just because Urban Meyer beat us last year, don't mean he's going to do it again....I love it, we're going to come into that game underdogs just like we did this game and have some Gator for dinner that night, its great!

Being a TN fan means its going to be one hell of a ride-every year. We made Cal look bad, and Cal made themselves look bad. A good team is not going to make the mistakes they made. We'll find out how good we are in 2 weeks. Kudos to the team & coaches, it was a hell of a game. Yeah, I'm still holding on!

Florida is definitely no top 10 team

How do you know that? One game and Florida is DEFINITELY not in the Top Ten? Pretty bold claim on minimal evidence.

gator fans are some of the lowest form of human on Earth

Not much intellectual value to that post at all. It speaks for itself.

i imagine Meyer had to change his pants after he watched that game. probably scared the bejesuz out of him

I doubt he's watched it. He will be impressed when he does, but I don't see him being scared. He's a smart guy -- he'll be working on how to beat those coverages and how to maybe have the safeties cheat a litle bit, ring up some picks on those Ainge passes that just barely made it by the finger tips of some of those Cal defenders. Please run those plays against Florida. Please.

Come talk to us after Florida has the balls to schedule a decent opener, let alone a top 10 team. It's been since the Galen Hall days since you guys played a decent opener. Til then....

The season is not a sprint, its a marathon, and Florida has the concensus number one most difficult schedule in the country. I applaud Tennessee for scheduling a solid team in Week One but its a 12 game season and Florida's schedule stacks up against anyone's, and you know it.

P.S. Both Southern Miss and Central Florida were bowl teams last year, unlike a certain team we won't mention.

Is it really that bold a claim? I don't really agree with him, but for the past several years one of the rites of fall we've been subjected to is the fraud of the preseason poll with Florida in the top 10 based on potential. Forgive some people if at some point they want to see Florida actually do something without Spurrier on the sidelines before they go back to being in awe.

I don't know, I mean it seems to me everyone in the Top Ten is there on potential, right? How else do you figure out who to put there.

Now, I've been saying all along that I think Florida has some real problems. The O-line and the running game are very suspect in terms of trying to be a Top Ten team. I agree with you on that.

All I'm saying is that with the exception of USC and Cal I don't really have much of a gauge on anyone in the Top Ten right now. USC is definitely in, Cal is certainly out, and from there you can make a case for about 20 teams. I think Florida is in the mix.

just focus on air force, i guarantee they are focused on UT. Florida will come soon enough. Yes I would rather beat them than anyone else, i have a drink i make pregame every year, Tennessee Gator Hater...a little JD, apple cider, spash of OJ, and a shot of good old Tennessee moonshine...i expect this years to taste better than last year. how much do i dislike Fla.? When we won a few years back my daughter jumped up off the couch hitting her head on the ceiling, it is low, and i refused to fix the dent. She was fine, after all UT won!!

No doubt you have to play all the games but you should let people celebrate an opening win against a top 10 team. Many teams like UF schedule cupcakes in those first two games and that's fine but don't knock someone for sticking themselves out there and getting a big win right off the bat.

I never said anything about the Gators overall schedule (although I haven't seen it ranked as the #1 most difficult). What I said was that they hadn't played a decent opener since Galen Hall. If I missed one then please point it out to me.

I say Florida isn't a top 10 team because its been proven in the past to be a flaw when they were ranked that high, sure its just the first week....I'm not saying you guys aren't good this year, because I'm sure you are but you guys were hurtin to start the 2nd half of that game until you guys outlasted Southern Miss....IF that had been a ranked team you guys wouldn't have beaten them bad

Gators don't know how to spell consensus.

I think we can all form a consensus on that. :)

LG, you know I've always liked you, so don't take this as being argumentative.

That being said, no matter what method you use, Florida's schedule is NOT NOT NOT a CONSENSUS number 1 schedule. It's not. It might be the toughest of the top 25 teams, but not NCAA D-1 football.

And just who do you think would rank ahead of us?

If you want to use the archaic method of your opponent's 2005 winning %, Florida would rank 4th, behind Duke, Iowa State, and Northwestern. However, when you do it that way, you're saying that a game against 8-5 Central Florida is tougher than a game against 5-6 Tennessee.

So, keep that for reference. I think Duke again has a tougher schedule. Also: Ohio State, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, NC State, Nebraska, Penn State, Texas Tech, Indiana, Virginia, and some other teams have comparably tough schedules.

I will say this, these kinds of things are hard to put in any kind of order RIGHT NOW, because Tennessee, for example, will have a tougher schedule because Florida is ranked AHEAD of them. At the end of the season, which is months away, Florida will have had to go through a top 10 toughest schedule. However, thats not the same thing as a CONSENSUS #1 toughest schedule.

Which one, the dent in the ceiling or the dent in her head?

I did !!! I said I applaud UT for scheduling a solid opponent in Week One. I never knocked you for that. I just don't think Southern Miss is like, say, an Akron or something. Southern Miss has been to bowl games for 5 of the last 6 years and they almost beat Alabama last year. I'm not saying they are a consistent powerhouse, but they are to college football what, say, Southern Illinois is to college basketball. They'll play you tough.

What? That's utterly illogical. First, in some years the past we have been ranked in the Top Ten.... and stayed there. In some years, we weren't ranked in the Top Ten... and ended up there. You can't say Florida was overrated in 2002 and therefore are again this year, too. That is just stupid.

I would say the burden is on you guys to back that up with a link or something.

I'm looking. I think that FSU at FSU on top of the SECE games and the SECW schedule of Auburn, Alabama, and LSU is a pretty sick schedule. I'll see if I can find a link to a strength of schedule forecast site.

Two words, RON ZOOK.....You guys were ranked in the top 10 just about every year Zook was there and you ended up going 7-4....One year you even ended up out of the top 25, so don't tell me "that is just stupid" a lot of things you gators say is stupid....Yeah you have been ranked in the top 10 and stayed there, the next year you guys are ranked in the top 10 and then you lose 2 games in a row and SINK......So don't tell me, you guys are rated where you think you should be...Because fact is, the last time you guys done anything to back up a top 10 ranking was when ya'll won the national championship....Like I said, I'm not saying that you're bad this year because you're not, it may just take a game to get you guys going.....I guess we'll find out in 2 weeks
