Kiffin needs to target Gonzales and Coach O with big money--he needs these top coaches to compete with florida and bama.

kiffin is a much better playcaller than Fulmer. Hiring Trooper would have this season ending up exactly the same.

Everyone is surprised at the hire and that he is brining in mostly all NFL coaches. We thought he would clean house and bring in some good coaches, but bringing in all NFL guys has come at some surprise. Honestly, the talk has been minimal, BUT i'm sure after our bowl game the talk will pick up. Most people are pissed about Monte though because there are alotta Buc fans around here, myself included. I'm not pissed about Monte, but some people are kinda mad, haha. I think it's funny.

What are the feelings on Gonzales, VV? It seems to be a touchy subject from what I've gathered. I know that he almost left after his first year because of Urban. Has their relationship changed?

To tell you the truth, I'm not real positive on that. I have not heard of any tension b/w Meyer and Gonzo, BUT it could exist. If there is a tension that you speak of, it will be magnified by this OC position. However, it is said that Gonzo will guarantee that he will stay for 2009 BUT after that he will choose accordingly. He wants a HC position. Waive a couple dollars and a better title and that guarantee will go right out the window. I don't look for him to make the move, but it is certainly not out of the question.

It is refreshing to have a smart conversation with a UF fan that does not consist of either side making obsurd comments about wins, losses, coaches initials or nicknames, peyton manning, and/or steve spurrier

First time posting here. I wonder around other teams forums all the time and this is one the better sites. I have been reading here for a long time but never posted for some reason. I really don't buy all the stuff about Gonzo and Urban and any ill will. I had never heard about any of this stuff until I was on some rival sites, but I could be wrong. I just have never heard it from any source that covers the Florida camp which I find odd. Most Florida fans would tell you that even when Drayton was still at UF it was known in 2007 that tension was in the air and both Drayton and Urban weren't happy. I can't really say what is going to happen though because if UT offers him a position and a lot of cash it would be tempting. UT is a great program and CLK is putting together an impressive staff. I get the feeling Gonzo is staying. He has been with Meyer forever and he has the same role as he would at UT just not the OC title. He will actually get more of a hand in calling plays then he would at UT I feel. Remember he already calls the plays in the red zone. Urban pretty much said he would have even more responsibility now. Some pretty decent sources have said they feel as if he is staying. I called a few friends I have made in GVille over the years and they say they are hearing the same thing. I hope I am right. BG is a great coach and a great recruiter. His players swear by him. It would be a big loss for us Gators and a great pick up for the Vols if he did jump ship. Sorry for the long post.

I highly doubt anyone will hire him as a head coach being only a WR coach...Most schools are looking for good OC or DC to fill HC postions...He will be wasting his career if He stays at UF as a WR coach when he would have a fantastic opportunity to be a OC at UT.

I agree with him not getting a HC job. Especially now with all the NFL coaches losing their jobs. I think we may see some of them come to the college ranks soon. Maybe a Mangini or a Herm Edwards or Crennel

All 3 of those coaches are NFL guys. Plus Crennel at 61 won't be coaching much longer. In fact he may be done.

Who knows why he didn't promote BG...all I know is that he's a great coach and we'd be lucky to have him. I was kinda suprised to hear he didn't get the OC job, with he and CUM being together so long and Addazio being there since what, 2005.

UT can pay a lot more to Gonzales than UF is willing to pay. UT can pony up $500K easy, while UF will pay him receivers coach money ($150K).

Gonzlaes very nearly took another job after Meyer's first year at Florida. This has been documented. The reason he did so is because of his relationship with Urban Meyer. Things may have gotten better between now and then, but to say there is nothing to it is just ridiculous. It's been documented.
