Gators Starting CB

As a Gator fan let me (obviously not the first) say that it was friggin stupid as all hell to run once you have been tased. Honestly, I hope that Meyer really gives it to him and uses him as an example for the rest of our team. He was a starter and turned out to be pretty much a shut down corner. Not too shabby against the run too (as Arian Foster) j/k. But for Meyer to suspend him for 3 (or more) games, not just the cupcakes, and expalin to the team that this is what happens when you put yourself in those positions and make those types of decisions... It will speak volumes. I know it will suck to not have him out there against you guys, if that turns out to be the case, but on the heels of that report about 20something players being arrested on Meyers watch it is somehting that I think needs to be done.

Whats so brutal about getting sprayed with pepper spray or tased? Its not like he beat him repeatedly with the butt end of his pistol or ASP. Doesnt make it right, but doesnt make it brutal either.

IF it was unwarranted (and that is a big IF), then I would consider it brutality.

If it was warranted, then it obviously was not.

My point was that we don't have the info at this time to guage wether or not it was warranted.

I feel bad for the guy because he was the victory of a robbery attempt, but when a cop rolls up and tells everyone to stop, why throw a punch? What do you expect a cop to do at that point? Blaming the police for this is a little ridiculous. These officers, as far as the report says, were just trying to do their jobs.

If I was a police officer in Gainesville I would taze every football player I could.

Since you brought him up, of course, this wouldn't have happened to Foster. AF would have fumbled the necklace as the cops were pulling up.

I think Meyer should continue to ignore these as he has (especially if the starters don't have a great backup). These disciplinary problems will take care of themselves. :good!:

Maybe it was police brutality. We do let anyone patrol our streets these days but i doubt it. Probably just another *** like urban meyer that got what he had coming. Seems to me they have more trouble than we know about and there just very good at covering it up.
Thank God we finally have a coach willing to discipline his team and if they dont like it they can hit the road. Thank God for Lane Kiffin.

You should be more worried about Bryce Brown running your gators over than Foster fumbling. Times are changing. I dont think there will be any chomping going on in knoxville for a while.

Good Lord. Is there worse?

South Florida, I think, and some other teams that don't matter.

The Gators are the best team in the top 5 for the cup by far. And, the cup administrators are Gator fans so they've already gotten the benefit of the doubt in those rankings.

I defended Arian Foster when he got arrested over a fight in 2006. I defended Anthony Parker when he got in trouble with the law.

I'm not judging I just want to ask a question:

If Jenkins was being mugged, why the hell did he run?

You have to admit, a UT fan accusing Florida fans of making excuses for players (or coaches) is as pot/kettle as it gets.

And on this board!?!?

It just a sign of how times have changed. We have a coach who discplines the players now. You don't.

Truth... admit it, LG. This could your Archille's heel.

He's from Pahokee, and supposedly everyone runs from the cops there (A Maryland RB [I think] said the same thing when he was arrested some time ago).

As for the other poster asking me my opinion... here it is.

If he is found to have defended himself only to stupidly run away from the cop, sure give him a 1-2 game suspension, if not more. We've all seen far worse on each of our teams. He was in the wrong place in the wrong time and made a stupid decision. Don't forget he's still just a 19-20 year old kid.

If he is found to have caused the fight, etc then suspend him for 3-6 games, if not worse. A message needs to be sent to our team.

I do think discipline is a problem at UF. I do not disagree with that. I continue to fear that one of the players is involved in a shooting incident and that could be disastrous for the university. I still wish Meyer would take a harder line on firearms and players.

Having said that, we'll see how Kiffin reacts when he has to deal with these inevitable problems.

I do think all can see there is a problem in all schools with firearms and it is getting way too rampant and really to be honest is disturbing...Something needs to be done at all schools about this crap and soon as it is only going to get worse IMO!

The Wilson incident to me was a big wake up call at UF. A player fires an AK-47 during an argument, gets kicked off but may be allowed to try to get back on the team. I just don't get that.

If I were the head coach, I'd have had his stuff packed up and out on the sidewalk when he made bail.
