Meet the same-sex parents next door - CNN.com

The U.S. National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study (NLLFS), which followed the children of 154 lesbian mothers over 25 years, reported that our teens had fewer behavioral problems and better school performance than their peers with straight parents.

In fact, a recent survey by the Pew Research Center and commissioned by Time magazine found that most Americans' view of what constitutes a family is loosening. Three out of five people said they view a same-sex couple with kids as a family, too.

which will be first - full national gay marriage or marijuana decriminalization?

i'm going with gay marriage. 10-15 years from now i bet those in favor will be a significant majority. the same can't be said for weed.

To many people make money from the Goverment fighting weed to ever see it legal.

The growers, dealers, cops, and lawyers.

Of course they have the desire to be parents.

This. Their kids are going to do better because on average they care more. Gays and lesbians aren't going to have kids by accident. It's a calculated decision and they desire the responsibility.

I think you will see a majority accept gay marriage long before marijuana legalization.

Nothing really surprising in that article. Can't help but be somewhat skeptical of any study that at least appears to have a bias in what it wants it's results to be though.

I think the article mentions the bias and makes the point that the real finding is that kids raised in same-sex couples are not "screwed-up" as some have suggested they would be --- not that they are somehow superior.

the article rightfully points out that gays who have kids are far more likely to have wanted the kids and therefore be more commited as parents. i bet if you compare like parents you wouldn't see much of a difference.
