Didn't Gene Chizik have a losing record before he was hired at Auburn? I remember all the criticism surrounding his hire...Boy, were all those naysayers wrong!...I mean he's freaking #1 in his second season with the team! Does anyone think that our head coach (who has a losing record) has what i takes to pull a complete turnaround like the awesome job Chizik has done at Auburn? To be honest, I'm becoming more and more doubtful after every game. 2-5 and 0-4 in the SEC...But I was also doubtful when Auburn announced Chizik as their head coach. For some reason, I've been comparing Dooley to Chizik all season long. I guess it's because they were both under the radar hires and that both coaches weren't super successful at their previous schools.

It might be more fair to compare him to the job Kiff may have done than to be comparing him to Dooley at this point.

+1 Perfect QB for a good offensive scheme. They'll lose one, if not both, this offseason.

Yeah, that being good tends to happen when you've got a future Heisman trophy winner as your QB.

I agree that the proof will be in a year when Newton is gone, but the fact remains....Auburn is pretty dominant right now and the turn-around time is incredible. The fact also remains that there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that prevents UT from going out and finding the next Cam Newton (or PM!) and convincing him to come here. Would a Cam Newton (or PM!) run away from a little competition with Tyler Bray? I think Bray will be a nice player, but I don't think so.

Still wish we had hired gus.. but time will tell. I like Dooley I just hope he can get us in the right direction.

Malzahn would not be a good head coach and I think he knows it. He's good at what he does.

And Chizik is a good coach. If we had hired Dooley two years ago we might be looking at this kind of success. (Especially if that dumb*** Kiffin had offered Newton instead of Simms)

the verdict is still out on chizik IMO. i was harsh on him when he was first hired and i'm still not sold to be honest. Malzahn and Newton are a huge reason for their success this year.

At least we moved on from the DD/Saban comparisons to DD/Chizick comparison. Who's next June Jones?

Without newton Auburn would be in a hept of trouble. They have a good offensive coor and a super quarterback and a stable full of seniors....Next year?????

I agree with a previous post, lets see how he does next year without Gus and the laptop thief before we appoint him the next Vince Lombardi.:finger3:

So all of you are not the slightest bit impressed with Auburn this year? Get real. And all those who are passing all the credit on to Gus need to understand that it's the head coach's job to assemble his coordinators. Hiring Gus fits under that category of "coach's duties".

didnt say that, the title of the post is about Chizik, and all I said was lets see what he can do without the best QB and OC in the SEC before we appoint him the best coach.:lolabove:

Hiring Dooley over Malzahn was a real stroke of genius.
I think Malzahn had the no.1 offense at Univ of Tulsa and now Auburn. Instead we went after a 17-20 head coach at La Tech.

the post reads "Gene Chizik is the man". Not "Gene Chizik is the best". though there's a slight difference, there is in fact a difference.

Chizik is the defensive genius behind Auburn's godawful defense. He's toast when Malzahn isn't winning for him.
