Gene Chizik is the man

Hiring Dooley over Malzahn was a real stroke of genius.
I think Malzahn had the no.1 offense at Univ of Tulsa and now Auburn. Instead we went after a 17-20 head coach at La Tech.

Yes, let's hire a guy who was coaching high school five years ago.

Chizik is the defensive genius behind Auburn's godawful defense. He's toast when Malzahn isn't winning for him.

Didn't Gene Chizik have a losing record before he was hired at Auburn? I remember all the criticism surrounding his hire...Boy, were all those naysayers wrong!...I mean he's freaking #1 in his second season with the team! Does anyone think that our head coach (who has a losing record) has what i takes to pull a complete turnaround like the awesome job Chizik has done at Auburn? To be honest, I'm becoming more and more doubtful after every game. 2-5 and 0-4 in the SEC...But I was also doubtful when Auburn announced Chizik as their head coach. For some reason, I've been comparing Dooley to Chizik all season long. I guess it's because they were both under the radar hires and that both coaches weren't super successful at their previous schools.

He will never be the coach that CLK will be... CLK and Comb over Monte will have this Tennesee turned around way before Chizik will be able to do anything at Auburn....Yep... I'm just glad Hamilton didn't go after him instead of Kitten....

Another thing to be thankful for is that CLK got Sims for us instead of that Cam Newton guy.. Imagine how bad we would have been if we would have to play him this year instead of Sims...

We should thank our lucky stars every day for MH & CLK.....:whistling:

FWIW, I was doing some research and Chizik's only experience as a head coach was at Iowa State where he went 5-19.

But I'm sure that was a more difficult place to coach than LaTech.

What makes you so sure that it is a more difficult place to coach? As bad as they were... ISU is a BCS school, a public state school, not Duke, Vandy or any other private BCS school. Where Cam Newton and Malazahn go, Gene Chizik goes.

No way to know what will happen but it is idiotic not to give Dooley a couple of years to recruit and implement his system. Some of our fans are just being ridiculous.

It was sarcasm.

To be fair, this is Chizik's second season.

My point was that everybody keeps dogging Dooley for LaTech, but Chiziks resume isn't any more impressive.

Guess sarcasm is difficult for people to pick up on a message board.

Actually, Chizik's head coaching career was much, much worse. He was absolutely dreadful at Iowa State. Not just mediocre, dreadful. The guy before him won 7 games a year and the guy after him is winning 7 games a year. Chizik just sucked, big time. He's a defensive guy and Auburn's defense is atrocious, to say the least. Chizik was able to parlay an overrated job with the team last year, Malzahn, and early playing time into a great recruiting class. This year, he's got Newton, and a schedule where the best team he has gone up against was coached by Les Miles. Chizik will be exposed sooner or later.

I'm not sold on Chizik at all. I wanna see what he can do when he doesn't have Gus Malzahn and Cam Newton. Chizik is supposedly a defensive guru, yet his defense at Auburn isn't even half decent.

A lot of truth here. I see Chizik as basically a Meyer with Mullen and Tebow. Sooner or later that whole thing will come crashing down but he won't have 2 national titles to show for it. Florida's success, in part, was due to the combination of Strong, Mullen, Tebow, and a weak SEC east. The west this year (and next year) will be very, very good. Chizik won't be able to keep this up, IMO. The best team out of the west year in and year out is going to be Bama. Everyone else will cycle out.

Agreed about the bold, although I disagree with some of the stuff you said about Meyer. He needs to fire Addazio, and if his health is really an issue, he should quit. That being said, you don't have the success he did without being a good coach on your own.
